“Sooooo good for the money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

I'm a traveling musician and was staying there on a short tour. The rooms are like little studio apartments with a mini kitchen and washing/dryer machine. Showers are excellent, water pressure is epic. It's always booked because for the value, you can't beat it in Shibuya. Awesome!

My room was more of a serviced studio apartment than a hotel. The bedding was not changed every day. The room had a washing machine with a drier and English instructions can be obtained at the reception. I used this quite a lot since I was jogging around and it was raining a lot.

The hotel is just a short walk from Shibuya station which is one of the busiest places in the world, but still located in a very quiet location itself.

The breakfast could be improved though. The variety is very limited and each day you eat the same thing.

I recently stayed here for 4 nights on a work trip. I basically used the room only to sleep, and I found it quite convenient and relaxing to stay here. It's off the beaten track in shibuya so it is nice and quiet. The room is self-sustaining and not too small. The bed was comfy, and there was free green tea and an electric tea kettle in the room. Mornings felt kind of like being at home making tea and listening to the news! There is also a great little market across the street to grab snacks or meals when you are pressed for time. Coffee shop around the corner is great too serving a VERY strong americano! Almost like NYC coffee :) Good restaurants on the back street behind the hotel. Very quaint and quiet street. Also within walking distance to the lovely Dikanyama neighborhood. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend if you are on a budget and wanting to stay in shibuya!

I stayed at the one located close to the JR station. I arrived at 2.00pm and was advised that check-in was not until 3pm, so I waited in the lobby until 3pm as I had no where to go and had 2 large suitcases with me. I was able to use the free wifi in this time. I then asked the receptionist at 3pm if my room was ready and she told me to keep waiting, I was finally able to check-in at 3.20pm.
I knew the room was going to be small, but this hotel actually seemed more reasonably roomy compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Tokyo. The room has a kettle and fridge and stove top as well.
I ended up checking out a day early because I felt so uncomfortable in the room, it did not feel clean and my room stank. There is a lot of clubs in the area so the free breakfast voucher you get for a cafe downstairs is usually filled with drunk people making scenes generally making the place feel unsafe. I would only recommend this hotel for its location and price, but you defenitly get what you pay for hear. The free wifi is only available in the lobby and not in the rooms. They have lovely reception staff and usually men at night and this did make me feel a bit safer.

There are two Tokyu Stay's in Shibuya and this one is the renovated one. Some of the negative reviews here are simply due to wrong expectations. This is a business hotel, so if yo are vacationing with a girl/boyfriend, romance is pretty far from this place. Actually, in a way it's not, because a few blocks from the hotel, there's clubs and lots of love hotels!

The price/quality ratio at Tokyu Stay is really good for Tokyo. Internet access is free and there's also breakfast. The breakfast is pretty horrible after a few days, but at least there's okay coffee to be had. The other Toky Stay in Shibuya (Shin-Minamiguchi) offers breakfast in the Jonathan's restaurant which is even worse - it offers horrible approximations of western breakfasts.

The Tokuy Stay hotels are a business-hotel chain and the staff speaks hardly any English. They are not rude, they just dont speak English. Now, if you are in town for business and want to stay in a great location in Shibuya, easy to access, yet quiet, this is a great place. You dont have to dress up fancy to go into the lobby and things like toiletries and drinks are available in the lobby from vending machines. Toiletry stuff is free.

I stayed in a double room, which was okay in terms of size for what you can get in Tokyo. The only problem is that there's hardly any closet space to store your clothes. The place has been renovated in the last few years, so the beds are really comfy and the decor, while yes, basic and a bit bleak, is functional. The work desk is actually comfortable and was spacious enough for two people to use at the same time and the chairs are okay. For work, this place is more than fine.

Yes, oddly, if you stay longer than six days, the room gets cleaned only once a week, but if you stay for less time than that, you get new towels and cleaning every day. Weird. Anyway, I recommend bringing your own towel since the towels at every Tokyu Stay I've been at are super small and thin...

We had fully working, free wifi throughout our stay, so I'm not sure what the complaints are about, probably weaker signal on some floors. We stayed on the sixth floor and had no issues. Ethernet connection is always available and works well.

The hotel is superbly located. You just walk up for about 6 minutes from the Shibuya crossing (Hachiko exit) and get to the hotel. Just next to the hotel, there's awesome restaurants like Evans and the superb Meri Principessa pizzeria, plus a 24-hour convenience store. The bars and nightlife of Shibuya are minutes away. Yet it's completely quiet in the hotel block.

Set your expectations right and you will be very happy with Tokyu Stay Shibuya.

I asked my Japanese colleague what he thought of the rooms here, and he said they were spacious, so I suspect my norms are culturally quite different from those here. Still I had trouble opening my suitcase without tripping on it while hanging a few items. The upside is that the room is well equipped with fridge, microwave, dishes, a humidifier and dvd player, along with a good desk set up, so everything is available. The breakfast that is included is excellent, coffee strong and fresh, and the staff very helpful in my experience over 3 days. The neighbourhood is pretty upscale and nice to work around in at night.

This hotel has a good location-handy for Shibuya railway station and some great local bars and restaurants. However the rooms are small and bleak, they do not get cleaned daily and the staff are disinterested to the point of unhelpful. Into the bargain there is only wifi in the lobby! though there is a hob in the room the hotel only provides a plate, a side plate and a fork, we had to go out and buy spoons.

The hotel breakfast is the worst I have ever eaten or seen.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.
