“Great value and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

If you're staying in Tokyo for an extended period (30 day min.) this is a wonderful choice. The rooms are HUGE in comparison to regular hotel rooms. We stayed in a premier studio and it felt like a good sized apartment with kitchen, washer/dryer,etc.

PROS:
Great central location, close to Oedo train line
HUGE rooms
Nice staff
Free breakfast (very basic though)
Medium size safe in room (big deal for those with laptops, iPads, etc)
Tokyo Tower is next door
Beautiful neighborhood
Right next door to a park
Walk to Zojoji Temple in 5 min

CONS:
Could have been a little cleaner, chairs/couch had some stains, rice cooker had some old rice still stuck in it.
No fancy Toto in bathroom
Most staff members are super nice but some are not great with concierge type requests. The female staff were generally more helpful and efficient when it came to making reservations, getting directions, etc.
Balcony is tiny, more like an escape hatch. But nice if you want to let some fresh air into room.

TIP: Make a right when leaving the hotel, walk a couple blocks and you'll find a great pizza restaurant (blue and white decor) with good lunch specials. Walk a another half block and you'll find a great Cali style Mexican restaurant (O&J, open weekday evenings only). These are both before Kamiyacho station.

Room Tip: Ask for park view, you can see Tokyo Tower!!

Place is about 5min walk from Hiroo station.
Building itself seems a bit old but clean and tidy. I could here from my room neighbour door banging and cleaning staff chatting but it was not too bad.
Reception was kind. It was relaxig stay.

We loved our room. The hotel was very clean and maybe a block from the nearest subway. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Even for a basic room it was still classy and very roomy.

I spend long periods of time in Tokyo and this is the best place for me. Very easy to get to from Haneda, close to subway and metro lines, supermarket downstairs and extremely helpful staff who speak excellent english. I see the same people staying here time after time. There are not a lot of places to eat in the direct area, but it is a short walk to roppongi with all it's hustle and bustle. And you will always have a landmark to find your way home, it's right under Tokyo tower.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Somerset Azabu East . It is a centrally located apartment-style hotel that caters to foreign business people and those who wish to have the comforts of home rather than an overpriced small hotel room. Our one bedroom suite was not huge but spacious enough to accomodate us three comfortably (with extra bed). I especially loved the in-unit washer/dryer, the kitchen, the pool, roof deck, and the small balcony. There is free internet access in the room. The view was perfect - overlooking an old garden and temple complex with skyscrapers in the background. From the hotel you can easily reach Ginza in the west of town (on the Hibiya line from the closest station Kamiyacho), Ueno in the north (also on the Hibiya line) and points to the East such as Shibuya (on the Ginza line) or Shinjuku (on the Oedo line from the closest station Akabanebashi). The Tokyo tower is one minute walk away and a good destination to tell taxi drivers when heading home. All in all a great stay, especially for small families.

Room Tip: Ask for the garden view.

We opted for a serviced apartment in Tokyo and ended up in this hotel. Very nice and clean. The hotel is child friendly. Very nice gym and indoor pool. The price is a steal as compared to other hotels in Tokyo. We all know how expensive hotels are in Tokyo and how tiny they usually are. Housekeeping is top notch. The free breakfast which is not good is my only complain but its free so never mind. Hotels location is very very near Tokyo Tower. Were also near Roponggi hills but the areas around the hotel are mostly residential with small restaurants here and there. Another problem of this hotel is that its easily a 15 min walk from the nearest subway which can be tiring. I highly recommend this hotel but having extensively toured Tokyo, i have other ideas on where i would want to stay next time.

I am SO glad that we chose this place for my ten-day stay in Tokyo. In addition to the in-room washer/dryer, the rooms feature small kitchens with dishes, pots/pans, utensils, and even a French press coffeemaker. The space is also well-configured for working (nice desk area with drawers).

The only tiny drawback is the breakfast, which is pretty meager (only toast and cereal). During peak times, they run out of dishes (so you might end up drinking juice out of a coffee mug or putting your toast in a bowl). But really? Who cares? You can pop into the adjacent convenience store and stock up on your own breakfast foods if you prefer.
