I really liked this hotel! It is close to two metro stops that will take you virtually everywhere in the city. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was just for two and was quite small, but the bed was very comfortable. Also, there was a small refrigerator in the room. As well, the room was very very clean. The bathroom was very nice and the cleaning staff refilled various amenities in the room everyday, such as razors, toothbrushes, hair clips, shampoo and conditioner to name a few. Also, there were a ton of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, which offered a wide range of food options. And if you are missing America at all, there is a Starbucks about a block away. This was a great hotel that I would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay in again.

During our first ever trip to Tokyo, we stayed at the Monterey Akasaka for 3 nights. We were looking for affordable comfort and the Monterey exceeded all expectations. The room was small, but perfectly designed. Little details made the difference... plenty of shelf space in the bathroom for toiletries, ample closet room, shelf above the bed for books. We've stayed in similarly sized rooms in NYC w/o these details... and those rooms felt cramped.

And the neighborhood of Akasaka is surprisingly great day and night. It is a business district, but there are great bars and restaurants. Bar Algernon was a total highlight.

It was hard finding a good deal on hotels in Tokyo, they were all really expensive. Hotel Monterey Akasaka was very well located in the Minato Ku district, close to the Akasaka Mitsuke Railway station. The room was small, but extremely comfortable. The room was very clean, amenities were fine. Internet access was free. The staff were extremely helpful. They assisted us in directions, and with the language. Overall an excellent hotel, with a great value for money.

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel, it was good value given its a 4 star and that Tokyo hotels are expensive.
Room was small but nicely decorated, great bathroom with a very deep bath. Location is not the best for tourists, though its easy to get everywhere on the subway with a station nearby, if I was going back I would stay in shibuya or shinjuku area.
Overall a good deal. I stayed in the Monterey Kyoto which was really great, bigger rooms and Japanese baths on top floor.

We stayed here for 4 days as a start of our honeymoon; I used to live in Akasaka so now the area really well. Knowing the room was small, I was only a bit dissappointed with the closet space, not too much space for a suitcase full of clothes for 2 people on a 10day stay, but other than that, great. The bathroomsupplies are GREAT, hairclips and sponges and everything and the location is perfect. If you take the Limousine Bus from Narita Airport to Akasaka and get out at Akasaka Tokyu Excel Hotel, it's a 7 minute walk across Aoyama dori (road) or a 2 minute cab ride.
The room was very quiet but extremely hot, the staff kept putting the aircon on 'heat 24C' whilst it was about 18C outside, we wanted the aircon on COOL.
For breakfast we walked to the 24h store Lawson or AM PM and grabbed something on the go, also there are two coffeeshops 5 minutes walk away. I had a fab time in Tokyo and since the hotel was walking distance (20minutes) from Roppongi, it was an extra bonus.
