“Business hotel with location as a selling point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

Down-to-business business hotel. Fantastic location, on top of shiodome metro station. Connected via the sky walk to major business district. Walking distance to shopping area and fish market for early morning sightseeing.

Small rooms but functionable. Rooms don't have wifi. Only lobby has wifi. Breakfast is a bit canteen style, but there's a Starbucks nearby.

Even though the rooms are small, they still have a bathtub. Bath salts and bath mitt supplied as part of amenities.

Good service. Even has iPhone charger on loan if needed.

Excellent attention to detail.

10min walk from JR Shimbashi, also on the Odeo, Ginza and Skyline to Odaiba - this very good value for money hotel has all you need to spend a week visiting and commuting around Tokyo. Rooms are small but efficient - at that price nothing wrong at all. Breakfast japanese style is good too.
15min walk from Tsukuji fish market so if you come back late one night, you know what to do ! I will definitely stay here again if i return.

We recently spent 3 nights at Hotel Villa Fontaine and were very happy with the stay. It was easy to get to and only a short trip to Tokyo Station. 10 min walk to the Tokyo Fish Markets and many reasonable restaurants close by. Breakfast was included however very traditional and as a westerner found not much on the breakfast menu that was appealing. Rooms were very clean and well serviced. Lobby staff were very pleasant and helpful and some spoke reasonable English which was a bonus when getting directions. We were on the 10th floor - hardly any noise and nice dark rooms.

The hotel is in a strategicly good location if you want visit the center of Tokyo, the famous Ginza street is only a 5 minutes walk, the Shinbasi Station of the Yamanote city circle train line is a few hundreds meters... The price is affordable, the rooms are spacious, and very clean. The breakfast is nothing special, but still good, and there is a lot of restaurants in the area in the nearby buildings... So, my verdict is "average" only for a very inconvenient and contraversary thing. The hotel has wifi only in the lobby, and in the rooms are only lan cable acces to the web. That means, your mobil devices, tabs, phones cannot go to the web, and this is simple ridiculuos in the business center of Tokyo...

This is a business hotel from top to bottom but the lack of wifi in the rooms seems incredibly counterintuitive. Having wifi in the lobby just doesn't cut it. I didn't have the breakfast but was told it was distinctly average. These points aside, its a clean and well-located hotel with helpful staff and for Tokyo, very good value for money and close enough to Shimbashi and Ginza to see a lot of the nearby neighbourhoods on foot/short train ride away.

Room Tip: To get wifi in the room, get an atrium-facing room. Means you won't have a view but if you'r...

Valla Fontaine, in Shiodome area of Tokyo, is a distinctly business hotel. Location is good, adjacent to an underground station and near to the Ginza area for shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
We arrived from our flight around midday and they wanted to charged us approx £60 to check-in before 15:00, so we just went for a stroll to Ginza!

Pros:-
Clean and well maintained
Good size rooms for Japan
Location
They stored a suitcase for 10 days for free, until we returned from Hokkaido
Pleasant staff who were happy to converse in English once my Japanese was quickly exhausted!

Cons:-
Over £15 per hour for early check-in, even if your room is available!
Breakfast was terrible. Very basic, cold and horrible seating area.
No bar
Free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby and was very slow.

My wife & I spent 3 nights here, fantastic hotel but showing some signs of wear in the rooms, however, the housekeeping is first class and rooms are very clean, the staff are very friendly and speak good English, even those who do not speak English try every method to help. Good location, next to train/metro station, Yokohama only 20 minutes away, £7 return. Breakfast is a little sort of western food but adequate. In room TV, limited, no CNN or BBC World. Internet available via WiFi to guests, free in the lobby, there is a fee for in room use. Fair enough at least you can check your emails in the lobby.
In the building next door, the Shiodome Building floor B2F there are plenty of restaurants offering excellent food and at good prices. Buildings are linked by escalator.
