“Good hotel in a great location in Roppongi Hills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Usual high standards for the Grand Hyatt and the rooms are not a bad size for a Japanese hotel. Excellent location in the heart of Roppongi Hills and the hotel has a very good selection of restaurants.

The only negative for me is that the spa staff do not treat you that well if you are not actually a member of their club. And children are not allowed to change in the changing rooms but instead you are forced to change in enclosed space that is effectively in the shopping arcade. WTF is that all about? Seems they prefer to pander to the local aging lotharios and their latest arm candy than hotel guests.

“Simply a good Grand Hyatt”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

After the opening of many luxury hotels in Tokyo, the Grand Hyatt may not be the best or nicest hotel in Tokyo, but still one to consider.

The location in the Roppongi Hills complex is one of its assets. Plenty of dining and shopping options, and not far from either Shibuya, Shinagawa or Ginza. The only downsides are an infrequent limousine bus service and a bit of a walk to the next train station.

The ambience of the hotel is modern and simple. If you like art deco style hotels, this is not for you. The rooms are nice and very well equipped with a lot of attention to details, but appear a bit bland for my taste. Entering the room, you are definitely not wowed. However, the bathrooms are big and very nice. And you do feel comfortable and sleep well.

Even if one is not entirely impressed by the rooms, they make up for it in service. Staff are very friendly, quick and competent. Great and helpful staff in the club lounge. Simply service of the highest level.

Had breakfast both in the restaurant and the club lounge. Selection and quality are good.

To sum it up - the Grand Hyatt is a solid choice among Tokyo's luxury hotels and one of my favorites, if on a good deal.

Room Tip: Try to get a room above the 10th floor. Some rooms on the 8th and 9th floor have NO view at all.

“Best service of any Hyatt I have stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This was the second time I have stayed at the grand Hyatt. I was only In Tokyo for 11 hours which was a shame because the hotel is so good.

I got upgraded to a suite and the staff are really friendly.

The rooms are big, well equipt. The manager even left a hand written note in the room with a free bottle of wine and some fruit which was a lovely touch.

I had dinner at The Oak Door in the hotel which I would highly recommend.

“Nothing Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The only good thing this property has going for it is if you are a Hyatt Passport member, this Hyatt is actually in a convenient location. The Park and Hyatt Regency are both in a part of Shinjuku where you need to get on a bus or a cab.

The rooms are nice. Nothing pops at you. The staffing is great so you dont ever wait too much for anything. But other than that, there is nothing too serious about it. I have stayed here and its convenient since you can walk right into Roppongi Hills right next door. The size of the room is standard for US hotels. Huge for Japan standards. the bathrooms etc. I got it here for about $350 / night. For about $250, i could have stayed at the ANA Intercontinental right down the street. the rooms there are a bit smaller but for 100 bucks less, I could have done it. But in the end, I needed to use the Hyatt stay for status.

The Food and Beverage portions are nothing exciting to be honest. There is the convenience factor since the location is so well placed but seriously, otherwise, not too much else going on. For the price, you can find better value at other locations with the typical famous good ole japanese customer service. Even the Westin in Ebisu came in a little bit cheaper. But in the end, its a solid 4 star. SOLID.

“Excellent & intuitive hotel with great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The Grand Hyatt Tokyo doesn't disappointed. Granted, it's not the cheapest of hotels but you certainly get the quality and level of service you pay for.

I was exceptionally impressed by the level of service offered – attentive, polite and intuitive – this is really what 5-star service is about.

The hotel itself was modern, new and spotless. Furnishings are of a high quality. These little touches set it apart from the usual 5-star hotels:

- Low intensity night-lights by the bed that provide a soft glow in addition to the usual bedside lights
- Master control of lights by the bed
- Remote-controlled blinds
- International converter for the socket
- Gently sloping floor of the shower

I’d say the only thing lacking was an iPhone docking station next to the bed.

The Grand Hyatt is connected to a shopping mall, and is walking distance to an area where there are loads of small, understated restaurants serving excellent food.

The location for breakfast is lovely, and they do serve an adequate selection of local and continental breakfast options.
