“Great hotel, a little further away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I enjoyed it and was up to snuff with Sheraton brand. It was a fairly quick 7 min walk to subway station and you have access to all of Tokyo, but other than that, it felt far from restaurants, night life, sites etc.

What I liked the most at this hotel was that it was very much guest-oriented and trying to provide as much assistance as possible to make easier and more enjoyable stay and experience. For example, they give you customized maps with directions from the hotel to all major tourist sightseeings, also they serve bus every 15 min to and from two nearest major train / metro stations for free. One thing which was a bit disappointing is that they charge you additional cost if you want to use the gym. This sounded a bit cheap for the Sheraton brand.

This was the second time that I have stayed at this property and returned based upon the previous visit earlier in the year. Nothing much changes but this time round the room allocated on the seventh floor was not as good as before. It's has all facilities but in sad need of an update. The hotel is convenient for both the subway and rail stations with a free shuttle to the nearby JR station and in the morning only to Shinagawa station. However, it is quite remote but quiet which can be a bonus in a noisy city. the staff remain very courteous and proficient.
The cafe restaurant is fine for dinner and breakfast but in the evening they close at 10pm on the dot as do other resturants which can be a little inconvenient if you arrive late and don't want room service. the cocktail bar in the basement was good but unfortunately smoke filled.

Overall it was acceptable, but could be improved, but i would stay there again.

I booked this hotel even though the location isn't very good because I thought everything else would make up for it. I am very disappointed.

The first thing I noticed is that they not only shut off the A/C in the entire hotel (including rooms), but it seems they also have the heat on! It's not even cold outside. It makes the room quite uncomfortable.

Breakfast is not included and the prices are completely unreasonable. I believe it costs something like $30 for the buffet, $13 for a continental breakfast.

You have to pay to use the pool and gym. At $260 per night, I have to pay even more for this??

Beds aren't that comfortable either.

This was a really nice hotel in a nice area. Rooms were giant for both Tokyo and international standards. I had a normal room and it was very large. Breakfast buffet in the morning was nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only spot this hotel loses points is location because it is a little far from Tokyo center.

The garden near the lobby is beautiful, and the staff is extremely friendly.

Also, there is a bus that goes from the hotel to the metro station every 15 minutes or so, so although the location isnt IDEAL, its fine. The bus drives about 1km down the street (a little over half a mile) to this nice shopping center with food and bars (and starbucks).

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and at night its very nice and quiet.

We stayed for a week in Tokyo at this hotel in august 2012
Room was upgraded to SPG floor
The staff were very courteous and helpful
They have regular pick up and drop service to nearby stations
Very large rooms for a city like Tokyo
All toilets in japan have robotic arm for washing of your backside

Room Tip: Ask for SPG floor

The Sheraton Miyako is probably fine if coming purely for business or an event held at the hotel.

There is a shuttle bus to and from nearby rail/metro connections. Otherwise the place feels a bit remote - it was tricky to find dinner outside the hotel, for example. The local area is quite residential and does not align at all with the typical Tokyo of the popular imagination, so if you are seeking this then look elsewhere!

The place itself is rather dated, but comfortable enough. The staff were friendly and helpful, although check in was a bit of a fuss as being ten minutes early meant the type of room I had booked could not be found, apparently. Prices for food seemed quite high.
