Sorry, wrote this ages ago, but lost an upload and forgot to repost! We initially booked via the hotel’s online reservation system, but I ended up emailing to see if it was possible to get the 4nt+ discount on a 6nt split stay. It was and they offered us a good rate on a queen room plus discount breakfast tickets.

Our taxi driver used the printed out map I had to locate the hotel, so I agree with others – it’s best to take an address/map – preferably in Japanese – as not all drivers we used knew it.

As per other reviews, our welcome was warm and impressive. We’d requested an early check in and were relieved they could do it, albeit very discreetly as the guests in front of us had to wait until the standard 2pm time for their room.

We were really impressed with our room on our first stay. Good size, lovely amenities and amazing view. Couldn’t see Fuji cos of clouds, but Tokyo Tower was fun to watch by different lights.

Although Shiodome is away from the main tourist sights and in a business district, it does have its advantages. The skyscrapers themselves are a sight to behold and it’s brilliant watching all the comings and goings of the trains and people. Also, all the main attractions are really easy to get to from Shimbashi station, which has excellent connections to metro and the JR Yamanote Line. Also only 2 stops away from Tokyo station which makes onward travel much easier.

The map and directions we got from the hotel weren’t brilliant and we did get lost finding Shimbashi on day one and finding Tsukiji fish market on day 3. But once you work it out, it is really easy to get around.

We ate in the hotel for breakfast and a couple of evening meals. The Japanese breakfast was amazing – exquisitely presented and filling. Think we were the only westerners in there most times. Western breakfast, however, is very average. We had the ‘casual kaiseki’ meal a couple of times, which was a delight for the eyes as well as a feast for the taste buds. Excellent if you fancy a treat without going out after a long day of sightseeing or travelling.

From our experience, the staff were discreet, rather than overtly friendly. And I was rather disappointed by our second stay. People say they were given bigger greetings on their return trips, we didn’t. In fact, our room wasn’t ready by 2pm and we didn’t get the queen room we had agreed, but a very small single for double occupancy. I wanted to complain and change, but my hubbie was ill and just wanted to sleep and have no fuss.

Airport transfer was easy peasy – we used their Airport Limousine Bus, arranged very easily through concierge. We thought we’d have several pick ups but it went directly from Park Hotel to the airport and took less than an hour.

One more thing, would also recommend the ‘Zen’ restaurant in the basement of the media tower. Very lively with excellent service and food to match – we loved the tempura set meals.

We stayed for one week. The minute we pulled up in the airport limo, the staff were on ground floor directing us up to the 25th floor lobby. The staff acknowledges you with nods and bowing throughout the stay. Although it seems quite mechanical after awhile, its a welcome change from the gruff atmosphere in USA hotels.
The lobby has a beautiful view behind the front desk. We asked for a room with a Tower view, hoping it would be complimentary, but were given the upgrade rates. There doesnt seem to be much flexibility in the rules. For instance, we needed an hour extension on check out, from noon to 1pm, and it wasnt easily given.
Just off to the right of the front desk is an Internet room with two comps and a laptop. They were usually vacant and worked great. Printing pages cost 30 yen for b/w and 100 yen for color. I did print a color page which actually spit out 4 other pages of advertisements. When I brought them to the desk and he said 500 yen. When I politely said I didnt intend to print the other 4 pages out, he waived the entire fee with a smile. Flexibility! Yes.
We had the twin standard room and yes, postage stamp is a good description. However, in Tokyo, you shouldnt be in your room except to collapse from exhaustion. The cleanliness and comfort made up for the size. Toiletries are aplenty. Others have mentioned subway noise, I found the room to be completely quiet. The shower has the hardest water pressure I have ever seen..and HOT!
I was lead to believe all rooms had a wall mounted flat panel. However we had a 19" LCD on the dresser. Limited english channels. Hope you like CNN.
We utilized the Concierge to find a real Japanese Tea ceremony. She did us right by sending us to the Imperial Hotel with a reservation for a 30 min PRIVATE ceremony which was amazing if thats your sort of thing. (3000 Yen for two)
The staff are very professional and reflect on the Japanese way of respect and honor. What a great culture.
The Oedo Subway is down below and so is the Yurikimome Line. Its a good 15 min walk to the Shinbashi lines of Ginza and JR rail. The Pedi Shoppes which are connected by a walkway were great. About 10 nice restaurants and a convenience store and Starbucks and Excelsior Coffee (which we liked the best for breakfast) Unless you have a business expense account, Id stay away from the Park Hotels meals. We got this hotel at an Expedia special rate. Message me for anything you need to ask about the hotel or trains near there, no question is too silly.

Just returned from 4 days in Tokyo staying at this hotel. Found it to be very convienient, clean and modern. Superior room was a great size for Japan. Would stay there again. The staff were very helpful and attentive to our requests.

We stayed here for 8 days on our honeymoon in May 2009. We found the staff very helpful and polite. The hotel amenities were excellent and we particularly liked the business centre with free internet access all day.

As it was our honeymoon, they upgraded our room to one with a view of Tokyo Tower for free which was a lovely surprise. The views were amazing, and having stayed in a room on the other side of the hotel, I would say the tower view rooms are slightly nicer with a bit more space and slightly nicer decor. Definitely worth paying a little extra for.

The hotel's location is excellent. Ginza is just a few minutes walk away and just across the road is the Sio-Site area with about 20 or 30 restaurants to choose from if you don't want to go too far. To the other side of the hotel is Hamarikyu Gardens which is a nice place to go for a walk or picnic. The Park Hotel is next to Shimbashi station where you can take the subway to a lot of the attractions in Tokyo.

It's also very convenient to Narita airport as the Limousine bus will drop you off at the hotel door.

I was a tad disappointed with the hotel. Yes it is in a great location, walking distance to the Ginza and with 4 or 5 subway lines converging in the basement of the building and it has won Trip Advisor awards.

The hotel is located on the top of a major media office building, part of the massive Shiodome Complex, from floors 25 to 34 with the reception lobby atrium going all the way up to 34. The reception backs onto spectacular city views to Tokyo Tower.

The breakfasts are fantastic, get it included in your room rate and there is free internet access. Ask for a room with views over the water.

The hotel is part of a group called "Design Hotels" and I had expected something interesting in the hotel's design. The atrium is bland and the rooms are small and very average in design. I had a queen size room which was small particularly the bathroom. The furniture is IKEA inspired with very few extras you would expect from a five star "design hotel". The flat screen TV is small and the channel selection is pathetic in a country with 100s of cable stations. There were basically only 3 English channels, no free movie channels and even just a small selection of Japanese stations. I know you are not coming to Tokyo to watch TV but when the weather is bad it would be nice to be able to watch some TV. There was no ipod outlet which is expected in new modern hotels.

Now don't get me wrong, it is a nice hotel to stay at when in Tokyo but the "packaging" in regards to design and room amenities is disappointing.
