Hotels in Japan take guest service to a tremendous level just for starters. The Okura is no exception and well renowned as still one of the best in Tokyo. Though older (say classic) in design and decoration, the standard remains very high and the hotel ambience more peaceful and relaxing after a day in Tokyo than some other modern hotels. Staff are always most helpful, location is central enough and only a short taxi ride to most areas of interest or business. One additional plus - all taxi drivers know the hotel name straight off!

This hotel is located across from the American Embassy, which is nice when you're so far from home. It's well run, people are friendly and within walking distance to the subway.
Breakfast is excellent but drinks at the hotel bar are crazy expensive... Nearly $20 per drink?! One is more than enough at that price (and its smokey).
Toilets are to die for.... Ya, that's what I said.... You'll have to go to find out more!

I stayed here for business and couldn't have been more pleased. Its only about 2-3 KM away from the Imperial Palace and right next door to the embassy.

Like with most Japanese hotels, the staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The restaurants within the hotel are all great (we ate at 3 or 4 of them).

The decor and architecture are my favorite. Yes, its a bit dated, but it is 'retro-cool' in my mind as it does feel like a Bond movie from the 70s.

Across the parking lot from the hotel is nice little museum which is worth spending an hour or so in as well.

I had a lovely stay (business purposes) and the location is good too. It has to be said though that this hotel is probably had it's heyday. I cannot fault them on their service, typically Japanese, very polite and friendly. I thought breakfast was hopelessly overpriced for the quality and selection available. If you are into 60's/70's Tokyo style, this will be your heaven.
