“Nice hotel near Shinagawa Station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This is nice hotel. Big lobby, big hotel, nice room, but the furniture a bit old. Unfortunately, this hotel far away from Tokyo Metro. If you want to take a shinkansen, shinagawa station was close enough within walk distance. But to take tokyo metro, you need to go at the back side of hotel to catch into.

My family and I stayed for 2 nights in July, in standard double and standard twin rooms. We were very impressed with the size of the rooms, which were no smaller than Western hotel rooms, and huge for Japan. The rooms were impeccably clean, the bed was comfortable (though note that mattresses in Japan tend to be on the hard side), and we were very pleasantly surprised that the "double" bed was in fact a full king. We had a small patio from the Double room with a nice view if the city and of the hotel's koi pond and gardens, facing the Grand Prince Takanawa.

We chose the hotel for its value, and proximity to Shinagawa Station (it is a 5-minute walk up a small hill from the station). This gave us excellent proximity to Haneda airport (15 minutes direct by JR), Kamakura (50 minutes direct by JR), and Kyoto (2 1/2 hrs direct by JR). The area around the hotel is not a destination unto itself.

I was happy with the choice of hotels, and would recommend it for anyone looking for good value and a decent hotel near Shinagawa.

The only disappointment was that we did not get to try the 2 outdoor pools, as the hours were not very convenient for busy travellers. The pools did not open until 10am and were closed by 8pm.

This is a mid level hotel that is good for a business traveler. Close to Shinagawa station, the bullet train is accessible, as is the local train. Rooms could use a refresh, but it is clean and service is attentive. Free wifi in rooms and lobby is convenient. There are many local restaurants nearby where you can eat on the cheap. Royal Host down the block has cheap breakfasts and the ramen alley in the station has delicious ramen.

Room Tip: Prince Hotels have several hotels in one complex at different price points. The Sakura Tower is the...

The Hotel was very accommodating. The rate included free WiFi and an awesome breakfast buffet. I recommend getting a room as high up as you can, ie, 15th floor on the side with the view of the Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo skyline. The rooms have balconies and the night view of the illuminated Tokyo Tower is breathtaking. And, how can you possibly go wrong when your toilet seat is heated. There is a free shuttle service to and from the Shin station. There are many Grand Prince hotels in Tokyo, so make sure you choose the New Takanawa. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: Get as high up as you can and stay on the side of the hotel with a view of the Tokyo Tower.

Part of the big maze in Shinagawa. Very very huge lobby and they have their own small 7-11. Save me from spending 15 minute walking down to the 7-11 at Shinagawa Prince hotel or Shinagawa station. Hotel do sell stamps, should you need to post letters of post card

This hotel is part of a big hotel complex in Shinagawa and seems designed to cater for big conferences. Nevertheless, it is a good choice close to Shinagawa station. Rooms are spacious and have all the basic stuff you need, including free WiFi. Breakfast was good and there is a convenience store within the hotel.

Stayed at Grand Prince New Takanawa Hotel for 2 nights. This hotel had a huge lobby! And free wifi at your room, which was of course awesome.

What I like about this hotel is that its quite near the Shinagawa Station, approximately 15minutes depending on how fast you walk. Some restaurants are also near the vicinity such as TGIFridays, a Singapore restaurant, and a Steakhouse.

Inside the hotel, there's a small 7-11 convenience store where you can buy bottled water (safer), a nail salon, souvenir shop etc. There were also restaurants below the hotel where we ate our breakfast.

The rooms were clean and neat. They provided pillows and fluffy comforters. Haha I was able to sleep well for 2 nights.

The downside of the hotel: there's a small balcony from my room overlooking the hotel's pool.. And oh my!! it was a very dirty pool!!! Nobody dares to swim there coz nobody cleans it.

Overall experience is good.
