“Well appointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Nice view from the little balcony. The room was nice, good bed and pillows. Hallways long and too warm. No wireless Internet in the room, definitely a negative. Hotel staff very friendly. Our rooms included breakfast, which was adequate.

The hotel is located at a walking distance from the Shinagawa station. You could take the Narita Express and reach Shinagawa station without having to make any hops at any intermediate station if you are flying into Tokyo.

The hotel has very spacious rooms and superb internet connectivity. The staff is very courteous and most of them speak English. The breakfast spread has some continental options.

There are multiple hotels of the Takanawa brand around the area, so the options for eating out are plenty.

The hotel is close to the office location near the Shinagawa station. So if you have your office

I would definitely pick this hotel for another stay at Shinagawa.

The hotel and room was very comfortable, especially the swimming pool. It is close to a main station so very easy to get into the centre of Tokyo. It was comfortable walking round the area at night and there were plenty of restaurants close by. The breakfast wasn't very good and definitely not worth the money!

Located very near shinagawa station, the hotel makes for a comfortable stay all together. This is because it is located very near a main tube and JR railway station, in a lively area, surrounded bay very relaxing japanese style garden. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and with an touch inside of warmth, as if you are a room in a private house instead than at a hotel. Room had free wired internet or wi fi only for 10 USD for all stay and accessible in the lobby which was nice to sit to people watch. Bathroom was big and clean, shower was hot & had good pressure (which is important to me). We had a view of the Tokyo Tower which we enjoyed looking at from our balcony. Bed was HUGE and very comfy

Stayed here for 3 nights recently on a business trip to Tokyo, and compared to usual hotel-experiences in most other countries, this leaves a lot to be desired. However, this seems to be a fairly standard experience at most Tokyo hotels, so perhaps expectations need to be recalibrated when you travel here.

Check-in took more time than usual, probably due to it being handled by a trainee with very-limited english-language skills. After a 20minute processing time, I was finally on my way to my room. Do note, though, that the room numbers here do not tally with the floor numbers! :-) - I had room number 34xx, which happened to be only the 14th floor (and not 34th as I imagined!)

The room in itself was just OKAY, a bit dated and worn at the edges. It definitely needs a good spring cleaning (carpets were stained and dirty, and the bathtub was chipped in places). See attached pictures. What was quaint, though, was that each room comes with its own little Juliet-balacony - however, with no view to enjoy, this is a no-brainer.

Everything other than the room was chargeable as extras! :-) - Breakfast costs extra (and the quality is rather poor!), using the pool costs extra, and internet costs extra too!... There was no iron in the room (something that I consider a basic requirement on most business trips)... and ironing was always at extra cost. Choice of restaurants in the hotel were a bit dicey, and the meals I have had at the Grand Prince are best described as sub-standard (both in-room and in the restaurants).

The hotel is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the Takanawa exit of Shinagawa station, which really is a boon since the Narita Express as well as most major JR trains stop here. The walk up to the hotel is uphill, though - so better to take a cab if you have a lot of luggage. The area is always busy, so it is fairly easy to find a restaurant to dine in if you are not keen to partake of the poor food at the hotel.... many restaurants nearby, and more opposite the Konan exit from the station...

I do not look forward to staying here again, and will probably look for a different hotel on subsequent visits.

Less than 5 minutes walk to the major Shinagawa Station where you can get trains to all over Tokyo (and Japan) the location of this hotel is ideal. Use the Yanamote line which has trains every 4 minutes on a circular you all around the main areas of Tokyo. It is one of the best city hotels I've ever stayed in with a huge selection of restuarants (okay they aren't cheap) and large, clean rooms. It has a large Japanese garden and pool, although they do charge for the pool which was odd. Also, the staff spoke some of the best english we encountered in Japan, which was extremely helpful for us whos Japanese was less than upto scratch.

A classy hotel which serves as a great place to sleep while you are out exploring Tokyo during waking hours.

Room Tip: The king size room was brilliantly spacious!

I stayed here on the first part of - 9 Day tour of Japan and was at this hotel from August 19th - 23rd 2013 --I actually was in Japan for 18 days but the first 9 were with a tour with Gate1 Travel. I was more than pleasantly surprised at how large the room was as I believed guide books that warned of extremely small accommodations in Tokyo. The room looked modern and it was immaculately clean. Our tour included the breakfast buffet daily at this hotel and it was always very good as well. The beds were comfortable, the linens were nice and I can't think of a bad thing to say about the accommodations here. I loved the proximity to Shinagawa Station and all of train and the dining options so near by. I would stay here again in a hear beat a I would recommend it.
