“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Couple staying in Tokyo for three nights. Chose this hotel because it was central and near two Tokyo metro subway stations. Service and presentation of the hotel is as expected from an Intercontinental hotel, very good.

Room was on the 18th floor with TV, study, couch and decent view of the city. Room was clean, modern and quiet. Get a good rest after busy days exploring. Health centre/ gym was located on the 4th floor (needed to change lifts to get there) which was free to access and had numerous treadmills, machine and free weights. A treat for anyone looking to work off extra ramen/karage weight.

Took the hotel limousine (coach) transport to Narita airport which was convenient but comes at extra cost.

Concerns
- There is no free wifi, not even in the lobby area which is disappointing. Even cable internet from the room costs money.
- Tried the room service on the first night (late check-in) and found the portion sizes to be rather small, poor value (expected) but also rather average quality.
- Both subway stations near this hotel are not on the JR network. Clearly not a fault of the hotel but foreigners who are buying JR passes might want to consider another hotel on the JR network for convenience/ avoid paying twice for transport.

In May, 2013 I stayed for several nights at this hotel in one of their basic rooms. It was okay, but the room definitely felt tired and seemed worn (carpets had stains, wall paper was dirty and torn in places, etc).

I stayed here a few days ago and was given a complimentary upgrade to a higher quality room and it made a big difference. The carpets and wall paper was newer, and the bathroom was more modern. However, the bed still wasn't very comfortable. For location-related reasons (closer to scheduled meetings) I moved to a newer, but cheaper and much smaller hotel (remm Hotel) which had a more comfortable bed.

I hope ANA Intercontinental refreshes their basic rooms soon. I also look forward to the day when cigarette smoking isn't allowed to foul the air in the lobby and main restaurant.

If you have time, walking around the rolling hills of the neighbourhood is time well spent - but bring a good map. The streets twist and turn and it can feel like you are trying to navigate a maze.

Special Note: Russell Sheppard, assistant Guest Relations Manager at ANA Intercontinental, does a great job.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to a category of room that is at least one step up from the basic rooms, which ar...

I would echo what others are saying here. Excellent value, central.

A couple of things to highlight that haven't been mentioned:

1) The Cafe Doutor (next to Exit 13, just steps to the east of the hotel) has an outstanding breakfast options for ¥500-700 per person. No need to pay up in the hotel
2) Laundry was inexpensive (about ¥700 per shirt same day service). This is a great hotel if you are carrying on and need to wash clothing on the road
3) I needed a shoe repair and they sent me to Mr Minit in the building to the west (about 50M from hotel). It cost ¥400, a fraction of what it cost at home.

We stayed here for two nights, a great IHG property but very busy, Staff was accommodating, and went well out of their way to help us. Rooms were modern, very clean and refreshing. Overall highly recommended.

Very nice hotel n Tokyo and reasonably priced. Also very convenient access to subways and landmarks throughout the city. The hotel also has a small mall located next door with different restaurants, shops etc, that can help break up a busy trip.

Rooms were very well done with modern amenities. Friendly courteous staff, and exceptional service - Highly recommended!!

I stayed here for a few days last week and it is a lovely hotel with a very high standard of customer service, food and choice is excellent. I think the only thing that lets it down was the room, old fashioned and in need of updating.

I was recently in Tokyo for a business trip and I stayed at the Ana InterContinental. The hotel is quite nice, and the service is definitely top notch. A few things bugged me - I booked the hotel from IHG's own web site and was offered a special price for booking and paying ahead of time. I did this. When I got to the hotel, they told me my package did not include breakfast and wireless internet. Both these were features of the hotel, but because I had chosen the special it was removed, which I was unaware of. Not a big deal - I paid for breakfast and bought internet and neither was very expensive but I was surprised by it. Other than that, the hotel was a good example of typical 4/5 star hotels. Having just stayed in an excellent hotel in Hong Kong I think these old style hotels will be gone in time and wlll be replaced with more modern hotels.
