“Great pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Trying to satisfy a pizza craving in Tokyo is just as difficult as you would expect!! However the pizza at pizzakaya was delicious! It's easy to find in Rappongi and the website has some good directions from the tube station which we used.
After seeing the size of the pizza, we ordered a large Big Russell to share between 2 of us and we still ended up taking 3 slices home. The menu has a good choice of starters salads and pizza, all very much on the theme of an American pizzeria.
There are a few choices of beer...not cheap but a very nice selection.
My only slight surprise was the price. For 1 pizza and 2 beers it came to 5600yen (circa £45) but this wouldnt stop me going back as it was a great pizza

“Satisfy your Ex-Pat Craving with Good Pizza and Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

If you are traveling to Japan for the "Real Japan" this may not be your things.
But as an ex-pat living in relatively (to Tokyo) rural Hiroshima, this place was just what we were looking for.

Run by a nice guy from California, this place feel like home.
Good mix of locals and ex-pats.
Good craft beer selection and real pizza with real toppings.

It may seem pricey to some tourist, but I view it as priceless.

I would definitely gives this place another try when I return to Tokyo.

“Best Pizza Experience in Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Finally writing a review after being a dedicated customer for 3.5 years. Walking into Pizzakaya is like being at home - the wonderful food smells, the fantastic staff, the kitschy fun posters and memorabilia. Derek the owner welcomes you and hands you a menu full of great pizza and food choices - our favorite being the Santa Fe pizza with carmelized onion and chicken and guacamole. His salads are incredible and we always start with one and then get a pizza. Great craft beer and, if you have room, amazing desserts. Love sitting and watching the fun movies he has going on the screen on the wall - my favorites being his Midnight Special music DVD's from the 70's. Always have a wonderful time at Pizzakaya and if you don't feel like going out they deliver. And open for lunch with pizza/salad set and meatball subs!

“Unbelievable pizza for anywhere, much less Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Just one month into living in Tokyo, I needed a pizza fix. Already having ordered Domino's (DO NOT RECOMMEND), I was getting a little desperate. After a bunch of searching, I found Pizzakaya - about five or so blocks from the nearest subway stop.

Derek, the owner, greeted me (in English!) and walked me through the menu - ended up settling on the all you can eat or drink for two hours for 5,000 yen. Ordered the Big Russell (the chorizo-ish sausage makes this fantastic), which came with a salad of my choice, unlimited beer, and garlic marbles, essentially balled-up garlic breadsticks.

The salad was great (with a house vinaigrette), the garlic marbles - amazing, but the pizza was, "ARE YOU SERIOUS, THIS IS OUTSTANDING." Being from Chicago and California (and having spent a bunch of time in NYC), Pizzakaya's pizza can match up with the best of them. It's sort of a hybrid thin crust - not too crispy, but a really well-made dough, with very high-quality ingredients throughout. I can't wait to come back and try the other pizzas. There's also a huge vegetarian selection, too.

I should also mention, the establishment itself is awesome - they had Robocop 1 playing on a big screen, with tons of Star Wars, LOTR, Simpsons, etc. memorabilia scattered throughout. It's impeccably clean, too. The staff is all very friendly, and it even seemed that the clientele (all native English speakers, as far as I could tell) they attracted were just as friendly, as well.

In conclusion, this is the best place to go if you're American and missing an authentic pizza experience in Tokyo. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

“excellent pizza's and tasty beers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

Just happened to stumble on this place by accident, and got a great pizza experience. Tried the Big Russell, just spicy enough. e first night I was there and washed it down with a few 'Dead Guy' Ale's. A few days later I went back again and had another pizza (plus a spicy meatball starter), the pizzakaya combo, great tasting pizza's with some craft beers. Highly recommened, will definitely visiting this place again.
