“Best Afternoon Tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

The Ritz Carlton Tokyo in Akasaka is my absolute favorite afternoon tea in the world. Why does this place rank number one in my book?? Usually people would except London or Hong Kong to house the best afternoon tea/high tea, however that is not true. The selection of tea really stands out at Tokyo RC. After you make your tea selection, they put your tea pots by the side of the window, along with your amazing view of Tokyo. The afternoon tea snacks are truly delicious here and are all made of the finest ingredients. Again this is probably also one of the most expensive afternoon tea sets as well. But you get an array of quality items including seafood. Most afternoon tea places have dried out tea sandwiches that in my opinion I could make much better at home. But Tokyo RC has a truly different take and provides the best level of service.

Highly recommend to call in advance for a reservation by the windows.

“Amazing”

Gorgeous hotel with good staff and huge rooms! Well located although mainly we took taxis which were easy to manage as the concierge would brief the driver in Japanese if you don't speak any

“Beautiful Hotel... Reserved nature”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

The Tokyo RC is absolutely gorgeous! From the building to the lobby and the view out of your room of the entire city!!! Its gorgeous! My husband and I are honeymooning and this is our last stop. We agree its a wonderful end to our trip. The only differences are btwn this RC and others around the world... We believe are culturally based. No tattoos can be shown in the pool area... So my husband was given a rash guard to wear. We also wore swim caps. All dining is deemed casual elegant. We are Americans... And as such unfortunately we get so used to everything being casual. The only noteworthy thing to mention is that the culture here is more dressy, classy and elegant. Be prepared to dress and act the part. Great service... Everything was perfect! Oh! Only slightly sad part to the stay is the breakfast buffet in the morning had no Japanese fare. What a bummer!!! It was American... And then some... Clam chowder, mashed potatoes... Who eats those for bfast?!

“Disapponted ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Well a last minute decision to go to Tokyo meant we couldn't stay at the mandarin oriental as usual for New Years. We decided to try the Ritz as a friend had recommended it to us. It's ok, not bad, definitively not great, but ok.

Bad points:

Embarrassingly I had to put tape over a small tattoo on my shoulder to use the pool or gym. Never had to at Mandarin oriental, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt or Peninsular in the past.

No in room movies, a problem when you have a New Years hangover to manage.

Heat experience at Spa is definitely over priced at more than $75aud for a hot tub, steam room and sauna. Nothing special at all.

Good points:
Club floor is great, lounge is excellent.

Location is very convenient

Overall though not the experience we had hoped for

“amongst the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We enjoyed a few extra days at the RC after several days skiing in Hakuba. The hotel is a short trip away from central Tokyo via taxi or tube. They provide a very professional delivery of service to all customers on arrival and throughout your stay. The rooms very amongst the most comfortable we've stayed in. The double electronic blinds were perfect. They ensured a good nights sleep with out day light appearing. The breakfast was delicious, service impeccable (discreet but on hand to offer additional support) with tables spaced generously apart. The swimming pool was a bonus.
We enjoyed a nice afternoon tea, an enjoyable pre dinner drink before with an enjoyable meal, with extensive wine list in the main restaurant. This is not an inexpensive hotel, but highly recommended. It continues the legacy of high standards set by its global brand.
