“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

What a fantastic experience. Emailing Akiko to sort out the booking and then having her guide us through the meal was a real bonus and the food itself was amazing. We had 11 memorable courses with the piece of fish that needed to be fished out from below the ice-skin with chopsticks and the vegetable parfait the stand-out dishes. The chef finishes the dishes in the small presentation kitchen in front of you and if you pay by card and need to add your PIN then you get to see how tiny the main kitchen actually is.

Only 10 covers and reasonably hard to find but it is in the alley behind the building that the taxi driver will think you are going to. Just keep looking. It really is worth it

If you are heading for Tokyo, don't miss this amazing little jewel. It was the most creative, wonderful meal that we have ever had. He is a genius.

“A truly outstanding meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

There's little that I can add to all the previous reviews other than to say that we too had an absolutely fabulous meal. Akiko starts the welcome long before you arrive, as she e-mails you to explain how the restaurant works and ask about your food preferences. It's already clear that they really care! This warmth continues when you get there. The entrance is round the back of the Sanyo Akasaka building and there's a picture of it on the website which makes it a bit easier to find. You go upstairs into a small dining room with the kitchen fronting onto the room so you can see chef Takazawa at work. You feel more like a guest in their home than a diner in a restaurant.

And then the food arrives. 3 amuse bouches followed by 11 courses of heaven. Go on their website and have a look at some of the dishes - they are truly amazing! But this is not just pretty food - more important, it's delicious food with beautifully subtle combinations of flavours. We followed Akiko's suggestion and had a wine flight to accompany the meal with some excellent selections of Japanes wines, all chosen by chef Takazawa and explained by Akiko.

This was undoubtedly one of the best meals I've ever had and I shall certainly return. It was expensive, but worth every yen. My only slight sadness was to see a family at the next door table whose teenage daughter spent the entire meal playing on her phone... I hope she realizes what she was missing!

“Perfection - in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

From start to finish this was the most amazing meal and dining experience I've ever had.
We have eaten in Michelin 3 star restaurants however this experience - the friendliness, the menu, the food and the wine surpassed anything I've ever eaten.
Akiko is courteous and warm, speaks exceptional English, has excellent knowledge of the dish and her matching of the wine with our meal was perfect.
I especially recommend their Takazawa Champagne - beautiful. We also had an amazing Sake as well.
The Chef is an absolute delight to watch him work - he is calm, collected and you can tell he is precise about what he does.
The food was an incredible journey - each dish was inventive - a work of art - a creation showcasing the Chef's talents - without being over the top. It traditional Japanese with a modern and creative twist.
Highly recommended!
Thank you for a lovely evening.

“Best meal we have ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Takazawa. From start to finish this meal was superb. We have eaten in some very fine restaurants throughout the world and this one tops them all. Aronia's skills in the kitchen are top-notch and the food he produces is innovative, flavorful, and executed perfectly. His wife Akiko is very attentive and does a great job of explaining all of the dishes that come to the table. They are very friendly people and the hospitality is very welcoming. Do not hesitate to dine here if you are looking for a fine meal. Be prepared as the prices are steep, but well worth it if you are into fine, modern dining and molecular gastronomy.

Expect to pay 30000 yen per person, and another 2000 per glass of wine.
