“Clean friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

I booked a room here through last minute.com after reading reviews for this hotel on this site. When the reviews said the rooms were small, I didn't anticipate how small! There was room for a bed, and thats it pretty much. I barely had space to put my bag anywhere, and anybody above average side will struggle in the bathroom. Typical Japanese compactness. Other than that, my stay was enjoyable. I miscalculated my dates and went out for the day on the day I was meant to check out. When I got back late that night, the staff were great about it and checked me in for another night no worries. Location was a bit of a pain, especially in association with the airport, as I got in too late to get a bus. But once I got the hang of the train network it was easy to get to, if not a little timely though due to the distance. I had breakfast every dau in the hotel and often ate at the noodle bars near the hotel. One advantage to being away from the city touristy areas, is that the locals were super friendly to the 'blonde australian girl' and often struck up conversation with me when they saw me eating alone. I met some great locals this way. You wouldn't get that in the city. There is a shuttle service to Disney as well which would be handy. All in all, if you are just looking for a bed to stay in and not too keen on a hostel this was a good choice!

For the price I paid (5,000Y a night) I expected a rundown hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the room was small but on my own I didn't care at all, and in fact the bed was a king single so I was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit like being on a ship but clean and functional, and having a bath after a long day was very nice.

The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the train station - on the map it looks further but the distance wouldn't matter at all, you have to catch the subway to get home anyway, right? And it's not a long train trip.

There's a restaurant at the hotel but I actually enjoyed the restaurants in the arcade under the train station (at ground level), there were some really great, inexpensive options available and I spent a day happily wandering around the area.

Internet is available but it's not wi-fi, you need an ethernet cable which the hotel will supply. All in all very happy with this hotel.

We were visiting Tokyo on a budget, (which is a hard thing to do!). One of the most suitable hotels we found was the Hotel Park Lane.

The rooms here are very, very small! We had a double room which would normally be considered small for a single room. It consisted of a large single bed, very little floor space, desk & TV (although no English channels). There was also a small en-suite bathroom formed out of plastic, with a small bath and shower. The room was however always cleaned to a high standard and staff were friendly. There was also free wired internet provided if you have a laptop (network cable available at reception for free). Laptops were also available to hire.

The hotel is located outside of central Tokyo in a part called Nishi-Kasai. It is however only 2 minutes walk to Nishi-Kasai Metro & Bus station. With trains running every 6-8 minutes, the line intersects many of Tokyo's other Metro lines and also runs directly to Tokyo train station (Otemachi) in around 15 minutes so was very easy to get to different parts of the city.

Nishi-Kasai itself is quite a residential area, with many high rise apartment blocks, however the area around the station is commercial, with many restaurants including a McDonalds. For cheap snacks, try the shopping arcade located underneath the railway line which has some cheaper restaurants (not all with English menus), bakeries and 100 yen shops. About ten minutes walk there also a large shopping centre and supermarket.

Overall, despite the rooms being very small, the hotel was relatively cheap for Tokyo, and with the use of the Metro, easy to get to all areas of the city easily. Worth looking into.
