“The best sushi of my entire life!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Try to explain the delicious and incredible tastes that you can try in this restaurant is non simple...
You should go, almost one time in your life, but go!!
This restaurant is amazing!!!
Exceptional service, wonderful location, you'll have your personal sushiman who will take care of you and will show you how the greatest sushi in the world must be prepared.
Sure, this is a high level sushi restaurant (not turistic), but not so expensive (a set menù is around 15.000 yen), and it deserve a visit, because you will remember this experiance for the rest of your life, as the best sushi in the world.
Just remember that the reservation is indispensable (better in advance to be sure to find a seat).
Thinking about Kyubey makes me wish to come back in Tokyo for some other delicious bites...

“Best sushi ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

A great EXPERIENCE in a very friendly environment. The food is prepared in front of you and one of the chefs risks a little Portuguese. Highly recommended!

“Number one for good reason!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

If there was literally one place I'd recommend eating in tokyo it's here.

We ate here on the recommendation of a lovely couple from NYC we met in our hotel lift....and could not have been more blissed out by the experience.

There's no English sign out front but once you arrive the staff are super friendly and explain everything in English.

We were taken upstairs into a small room (the place is broken into small private dining rooms, each centred around the sushi chefs at work). The chef suggested we do the 12-course sushi meal (10,000 yen a head - WELL worth it) and went to great effort to find out if there was anything we didn't eat (in our case, eel).

Each course consisted of a piece of sushi prepared before our eyes - all utterly amazing. Some pieces (like the sea urchin or 'uni') were a bit out there but there was a lot of great, classic fish like salmon too. Even if you're not a super adventurous eater you'll be fine. They substituted crab for the eel course for us, and the prawns were displayed live and crawling before our eyes before being prepared. If you're into prawn welfare shut your eyes for that part :) but rest assured it can't get ANY fresher.

The chefs themselves were so fun and friendly (not to mention skillful) and the vibe in our room was great - four couples all of whom spoke different languages but somehow shared the experience together.

We had no booking and arrived about 8:20pm - is recommend booking (which you can do prior to 7pm) just to make sure you don't miss out. You can NOT miss out on this.

“The real experience of Sushi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

My wife and I with a couple of friends from Switzerland visited this restaurant during our vacation last week. We have been many times to Japan the last 20 years but I have to admit, that this was one of the best restaurants I've ever visited. The freshness of the fish, the friendly staff and the outstanding presentation of the food is remarkable. if you really want to experience high class Sushi, you have to visit Kyubei. Worth every penny you spend

“Awesome sushi about 10 mins from Shinjuku station ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

As San Francisco Bay Area residents we normally get pretty good sushi already but wanted to try this Bento.com recommended place and it was totally worth it. We ordered 2 set menus (US$90 & US$120) and found every item (prepared in front of you of course) to be pretty much the best we ever had.

Since the restaurant is inside a big business hotel (on the 7th floor) the chef and the wait staff spoke enough English making our experience that much better! Our chef even offered to take our picture at the end of the meal (it was closing time and most of the other guests left already) which was unexpected but highly appreciated since we were on our honeymoon.

For much less expensive but still excellent sushi (in a less classy setting) try Midori in Ginza. A 6 piece maguro sashimi was just $10 and tasted very fresh!
