“Have a better understanding of Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We had been to Tokyo before but decided this time to learn more about this amazing city and culture. Ayako customised our tour to our interests and included some traditional activities (tea ceremony) as well as walking around the old part of Tokyo, having lunch with the locals and answering our numerous questions about the Japanese way. We did a four hour tour, which I think was enough for one go with transport on train and walking. If there is alot that you want to cover and time permits I would suggest breaking it up to two days, with 3 hours each time. However it can depend on the time it takes to get to and from the destinations - particularly in peak hour! (thank goodness we had Ayako to navigate us through that).

“Lovely Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

We have been to Tokyo many times and wanted to experience something different. We contacted Ayako and we planned a custom itinerary. Ayako is a very personable guide and we liked spending time with her. Like the other reviews said, she picked us up at our hotel lobby and we were off from there. Even though our trip was to a charming residential district called Kagurazaka and then to a local art street under train rails called 2k540 Aki-Oka, Ayako was able to weave in a lot of Japanese culture and we learned a lot. I think our tour ended too quickly because of how charming she is, but it was long enough for us to be introduced to these great new places in Tokyo.

“An efficient and unique perspective of Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

I found Ayako Watanabe from reviewers at Trip Advisor and emailed to ask if she was available to guide us( walking tour, cash payment, up to 4 people) of Tokyo. Maximum time is 6 hours. I was very pleased that she was available, and we emailed back and forth to determine our itinerary. We paid her a base fee ( she has a price list in her website), as well as take care of our own transportation fees( subway, train) and our lunch. She picked us up from our hotel, and taught us how to use the subway. We chose to go to the Tsukiji Fish Market, and she efficiently brought us to see all the highlights as well as try out the various unique foods. We had a delicious sushi and sashimi lunch at a restaurant recommended by Ayako. We also went to the Asakusa area, visited the Sensoji temple and enjoyed unique Japanese snacks and sweets along Nakamise street( the street leading up to the temple), and ended the tour with a sake tasting. Then she pointed us in the direction of Sky Tree( we wanted to check this place out). Quite a great and efficient way to see a part of Tokyo. I highly recommend Ayako.

“An Excellent Guide in Tokyo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Tokyo is a city for experienced travellers since it is very big city and few people can speak english.
I sent an e-mail to Ayako and she designed a custom itinerary for me. She was in our hotel`s lobby a little bit before the scheduled time and we began exploring the old and the new Tokyo for 6 hours.
We went to a lot of sights and interesting streets and she took me to a excellent and cheap restaurant in Ginza where we could eat Teishoku. She is friendly and have very good english
I liked her very much and i strongly recommend Ayako as your guide in Tokyo.

“Perfect Introduction to Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Our day with Ayako was the perfect first day in Tokyo. We had written back and forth about our interests, and she designed a custom itinerary for us that was a great blend of old and new Tokyo. We learned so much about Japanese history, culture and food. Our day included the Meiji Shrine, Ukiyo-e woodblock print museum, the Ginza, the best meal we had in Tokyo (and only $10!), a traditional tea ceremony and more. She followed up afterwards with the details on shops that sell woodblock prints, and we were able to buy a very special one that we will treasure. She also taught us how to use the train / subway system, so we were good to explore on our own after that. We were a little intimidated about Tokyo, but after our day with Ayako we felt right at home.
