I spent some time dithering over choices for a 5-night stay in Tokyo prior to embarking a cruise there, and considered several other hotels before deciding on the Grand Arc Hanzomon, largely on the basis of the TripAdvisor reviews. What a good choice it turned out to be. First, by Tokyo standards the price is very reasonable, and the rooms are both spacious and stylish: great care seems to have been taken in furnishings. Beds are firm and comfortable, with linen changed every day by the most courteous housekeepers. Almost all rooms overlook the Imperial Palace Gardens; rooms have huge windows to allow you to enjoy the views. Bathrooms are not large but are adequate, and come equipped with an all-singing, all-dancing Japanese toilet: if you don't know what this is, you're in for a surprise.

The Grand Arc Hanzomon is not right in the centre of frenetic Tokyo, but to me that was an advantage: it is two minutes' walk from Hanzomon Metro stop on the Hanzomon Line, so Ginza or the other major centres are no more than 15 or 20 minutes away.

Staff are uniformly extremely courteous and helpful, as only the Japanese can be, although in some instances I encountered a language barrier with restaurant staff, whose command of English was rudimentary.

I felt that breakfast was the weak link in an otherwise perfect stay: it is rather unimaginative and limited, but I have to admit that there are plenty of places nearby where one can get breakfast.

The Grand Arc Hanzomon is not a "grand" hotel in the style of the Imperial, the Okura or the New Otani, but those hotels have the disadvantage that they are swarming with people and are often confusing in layout (the New Otani especially). I like the restrained atmosphere at the Hanzomon, although it can be busy at weekends when it becomes a popular venue for weddings.

All in all, I am delighted to have found this hotel, and will be very happy to return there on my next visit to Tokyo.

We have stayed for 5 nights and were very happy for our decision to choose this one instead of stay in Shinjuku.
The location is super, 2 minutes walk from Hanzomon subway stn., and this subway line (also called Hanzomon) is not that busy as others, and literally in the middle of the system, so it is very convenient to switch lines.
The staff is very friendly. We checked in Saturday night and was given a city view room, i was a bit disappointed and asked the front desk to switch to a palace view room. They said it was booked full that day, but they can move us to same size room on Sunday for free, and if we keep luggage packed, they will move the luggage too. So we left to the city early Sunday morning and came back late night to a palace view room with all our stuff already there.
The room is small if measured in American way, but was good enough for us even with two big cases and two carry-ons in the room. The palace view is super in the morning with beautiful sunrise to wake up with and splendid view at night. (we stay at room 1503)
Only one drawback is that not many restaurants around, but there is a family mart and a Lawson very close-by for breakfast, drinks and snacks.
Definitely will book it again next time in Tokyo.

First time for me to write such a review right after the visit today as I really feel that this hotel should be shared to all.
Best view I have ever had in Tokyo. A room with a view of the palace, river, and even the Tokyo Tower (my room is on 16th floor). Reasonably priced through Hotels.com.
Excellent location, only 2 minutes walk from Hanzoman Metro Station. Some convience stores, cafe, Chinese and Japanese restaurants right above the station. Only a few stations away to nearly everywhere in Tokyo.
Perfect jogging / walking /cycling path right opposite the street to circle around the Palace of 5-6 km.
Very clean and tidy, both inside the room, at the lobby or from the outside. Free wifi and wired Internet connection, pretty fast speed.
Only minor problem of carrying the luggage up and down 2-3 stairs from the Metro station.

We booked 5 nights in this hotel and stayed in a twin-room. By japanese standards it was a big room with a fantastic view of the Imperial Palace grounds and the skyscrapers of the financial district surrounding Tokyo Station.
The price was most reasonable.
The area is a little quiet during the evening hours, but there are a couple of places where you can find something to eat (24h restaurant, chinese place, soba place, izakaya, coffee shop).
The subway (Hanzomon line) is within reach (5 min by foot).
All in all we really liked the place. Staff was helpful and friendly and most of them spoke English.
There was free WiFi in our room. The room was clean and nicely furnished.
If you expect buzzing nightlife around you, you might not enjoy it as much as we did, but if you like to unwind from the city and enjoy the view at night, it´s the place to be for you.
