“Good location, worth the price (for Tokyo's rather hight rates)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

First of all, make sureyou are booked into the MAIN tower buildung, not at the garden tower. This building has not been renovated and its guest roosm are rather an impertimence to a visitor then a relaxing place to be!
The rooms in the main buildung however are really nice and newly renovated and the size is ok for the rate!

Both hoteltracks (main and garden tower) merge a large shopping and reception zone on the first
floor, also what is convenient are the 4 more or less conected subway stations around the New Otani zone. In the middle of the hotel lies a beautufully shaped Japanees garden, worth a visit!

Don't spend your money at the hotelbar for a drink! Its just exorbitantly expensive, not worth the cocktail or beer!

Ok, this is about as good as it gets. In the Main, they have 2 levels 10th and 11th that are dedicated as "Executive House Zen". The rooms are as nice as the Park Hyatt or other 5 Stars. Granite bathrooms, luxury lighting, king bed - a bit firm but excellent, down duvet, Grohe fixtures. SUPER quiet. Now, the best part of all is the executive lounge - in a word, OUTSTANDING. It's not large, but it is excellent - w a tremendous view of the Tokyo skyline. The drinks are always free (Considering Coke Zero is 700 Yen downstairs, the lounge is a bargain!). There is always at least 2 or 3 attendants in the lounge, sometimes 5. THey are all well dressed, impeccable English, and very polite.. In fact, they were so good, I called the manager of the hotel to compliment them. They were extraordinary. The lounge offers free breakfast in the morning w croissants, yogurt, fruit, mini-quiches (or something like that). If you're staying w the Executive Zen package, your internet is free and you get breakfast for free at Satsuka (sp?) downstairs which is to die for... Others have written about it, so I will spare you. Suffice it to say, it's one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever seen w western and eastern food. Just excellent!
I will definitely return here w/out equivocation.

Room Tip: Stay in the main, and if you can afford it, Executive House Zen. WOW.

Used to be one of the best in Tokyo no longer though. Rooms can be small, desks too small to work on and staff in restaurant speaks limited English or none at all but very clean and staff polite Housekeeping is excellent. And large choice of restaurants in good location with subway lines very near

A functional hotel in a good location. It isn't cheap for what you get and it has a bit of a 1970's feel. The garden is very nice but the hotel itself is a little tired. The local area is quite good so I would rate the location of the hotel quite high. The breakfast was quite average but the staff are polite and efficient as you would expect.

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing Mt Fuji

For the amount I paid, I wasn't particularly thrilled with this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and having a room at a high floor, I had a decent view. All in all, I've stayed at much nicer places for less, and I was surprised at the little things.

Pro: Internet was free in my room via cable connection.
Con: Wifi in my room wasn't free, and didn't work well in my room, so I wasn't able to connect my mobile device.
Pro: Very comfortable bed.
Con: You have to pay to use an ironing board and iron, and you can only have them in your room for an hour. I found this to be very strange frankly, and illogical if you hope to attract business travelers.

There was a breakfast buffet that, while not that expensive and of reasonable quality, was extremely limited in it's selection, and offered no hot food options, so it felt a little disappointing.

In general, I might look for other hotels in the area next time, but there was nothing about my stay that would cause me to avoid this place in the future.

Room Tip: Good views from the high floors.

After travelling across Japan we stayed a last night in Tok¥o and chose the New Otani Hotel. A very bad choice! Check-in was fast- only arriving in the room we realised that they put us in a smoking room - even tough we wrote in the reservation that we needed a non smoking room. Going back to the reception, the lady was (unusal for Japan) very unfriendly. Stared for minutes into the screen then proposed us either to take a twin bed room or to pay extra for a non smoking double room!!!
We were not very happy about this - and chose to take the twin room- with a view to the parking lot. The room was ok, but very small and the toilet standing in front of the bath tub- and no extra shower. All very worn out and out of date looking like from the 70ties.
The hotel has only free WIFI in the Lobby. So lots of people were hanging around in the lobby to use free internet. Looked a bit cheap and like a camping area.
As we stayed only one night and had to leave early in the morning I cant tell about the surroundings. It seems that the park and the jogging path are nice.
When leaving the hotel, no concierge or bell boy helped us to get a taxi. This hotel won't see us again.
We stayed for the same price in much better hotels in Tokyo with professional service and nice staff.

After trying to find adjoining rooms in local/non-chain hotels in Tokyo, we finally turned to the New Otani. Although it was very large and hosted tour groups, airline crew and weddings, the location and service was very good and the multi-lingual staff made the stay easy. The many restaurants within the New Otani were tasty but very expensive. Decor was a little outdated but it was very convenient on all fronts.
