The hotel is well located, the Kengo Kuma design is serene and enticing and gives the rooms an edge over the anonymous hotel chains. The rooms are spacious and well-designed, and the views are excellent. The service is discreet but we were always made to feel welcome. We arrived in the morning (10.00am) after a very long flight and were invited to check into our room immediately, which was such a treat. Our room requests were also accommodated. Breakfast was not included in our room rate - we did have breakfast in the hotel one morning and I would not recommend it. Pricey and average. Otherwise a very pleasant and stylish place to stay.

Consistently lack of English from room service where they brought the incorrect orders and kept me waiting several times as clearly did not know how to communicate in other language apart from Japanese. Not a good experience when you are on a business trip. Avoid.

We loved our stay at this ultra modern, spacious hotel in the middle of Tokyo. It was so easy to get around everywhere as the hotel is on-top of one of the few metros with four stops on and extremely close to two additional stops. The staff too was extremely helpful; from pointing out the local noodle joint to booking three star michelin restaurants for us and keeping our lugage when we went to Kyoto for two days. The room was huge for Japan and from our room we could just see the top of Mount Fuji on the clear days. Really amazing.

Room Tip: Get one as high up as possible.

We travelled to Japan for our honeymoon and chose to treat ourselves to a 5* hotel for our last 2 nights. To be perfectly honest we were let down by this one and after some fantastic hotel experiences for the rest of the trip this wasn't a great end.

Don't get me wrong, the hotel was nice and nearly to 5* standard, the customer service for the most part was pretty good, the location was good with spectacular views from the room. What really let them down was the fact that after having spent all day saturday out and about walking around Tokyo we came back at 4pm to relax before dinner and to sort our bags for travel the next day. On returning to our room we saw that it hadn't been serviced yet and 2 mins after getting into our room we had a knock at the door from the maids saying they wanted to service our room and we had to leave. We weren't overly happy about this and found it quite rude, never have I been told to leave my room so it can be serviced and never have I been in a hotel where it took tip 4pm to service the room and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. We went out for 40mins only to come back and find that they were still in our room so we were told to leave again. We asked the Concierge if he could find out when we would be able to return to our room, he didn't seem shocked by the fact we had been told to leave our room so I am guessing it is the standard there. We were told it would be another half an hour so found ourselves buying coffee and cake to kill time, great way for the hotel to make more money, really it should have been on them for the inconvenience.

The other unfortunate thing was that we weren't allowed to use the pool/spa facilities as we both have a small tattoo. I understand this is a policy in some places due to the tattoos that the yakuza have but clearly we are not yakuza.

Not somewhere I would stretch to the expense of again, I have stayed in plenty of 4* hotels throughout Japan (yes also in Tokyo), that for a small portion of the price of this hotel, we received better service, felt more welcome and were equally as clean and comfortable in great locations.

An ideal hotel for visiting Tokyo. Positioned directly above a Metro Station access to everywhere is easy. The nearby US embassy guarantees it is quiet too and the Imperial Palace is also nearby. The rooms are lovely, fabulous bathroom arrangement and all necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. I also had great view.

Staff exceptionally helpful, bags carried, doors opened and nothing too much trouble. Hotel bar and restaurants also good.

Highly recommended - especially for a first time visitor.

Capitol is a very nice hotel with very spacious rooms for Japanese standards and extremely functional.
Close to shopping areas, restaurants and bars, good connections to Tokyo train station and Haneda airport, walking distance to the imperial palace.
The only remark is on the breakfast space and logistics, gets full fairly easily and may imply some large minutes waiting for a table to be available. Needs review.

We chose the Capitol for the last hotel of our trip in Japan, expecting it to be the best. We were not disappointed.
We were provided views of the National Diet, the Imperial Palace grounds and the First ministers official residence, and that was just from our room.
Sat atop a metro station, we were able to fan out all over the city during our stay. A few stops gets you to most central areas.
For runners, less than 1km gets you onto the Imperial Palace running circuit, which is an awesome experience, especially on a weekend morning when you find yourself amongst a bibbed race.
We found the staff to be delightful, and had a simply wonderful welcome from our female bell captain in both Japanese and the Queen's English.
After five nights the only negative I can muster is that it takes a bit to learn to navigate the sub lobby floors most efficiently.
It felt simultaneously like a Grand hotel, and a Home.
