“Fabulous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Everything it was promised to be, according to the best reviews. The view from our room was so great we slept with the curtains open! And the bathroom is heaven. Lots of space. Very quiet. Only heard loudspeakers from protesters in front of prime minister's residence, which our room overlooked. Maybe better to get a room facing the shrine. The walk to and from subway, "below the hotel" is pretty long, especially after a day of sightseeing. But convenient, especially if it is raining.

Room Tip: Hollywood deluxe twin...big and fabulous.

I believe lot of people have already said a lot about the hotel and how good it is. I will just add a photo that I took. Its one of the best places I have ever stayed in and would love to go back. The best part of the room was the bath, 3.5 mm wire to plug in your devices, view of the tokyo tower, proximity to the station etc.

My husband and I spent four days here at the beginning of our trip to Japan in September, and two days at the end, and they were wonderful days. The original hotel was closed in 2006 and the new Capitol Tokyu opened in 2010. Its contemporary Japanese style is elegant throughout with crisp design and attractive public spaces. The hotel is in Akasaka, the heart of downtown Tokyo, and the fact that the nearest subway line is in the lower level was a plus. Our room was spacious and elegantly apportioned with its gorgeous tub and shower area separated from the bedroom by shoji paper screens. We were in a club level room, overlooking the Hie Shrine, with access to the library lounge which served a light breakfast, snacks during the day, and cocktails in the evening. It had its own concierge who made excellent recommendations for dining outside the hotel. One afternoon, after walking and walking all day, we took advantage of the beautiful swimming pool in the in the spa area. It was the cleanest, most elegant, and largest, pool I have ever seen in a hotel. We both give our wholehearted recommendations to this fine hotel.

Room Tip: The club level rooms have access to the library lounge, a huge plus for people traveling with friend...

We split our recent week in Tokyo between the Park Hyatt and the Capitol and while obviously not as celebrated, the Capitol was in some ways the better experience. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood near the Diet and is right above a subway station with access to a number of lines, including the Marunouchi and Ginza. Our rooms (one a king and the other two queens) were spacious, spotless, and had huge windows with views over the city from the 23rd floor (ours were facing Shinjuku). The whole space was very cleverly designed, with sliding screens used to break up the various areas, and the huge walk-in shower/bath, all covered in charcoal slate, was probably the most elegant bit of bathroom architecture I've ever seen. Public areas are very peaceful and refined, service was professional and unobtrusive, and the whole experience was just excellent. The Capitol well deserves its rocketing TA ranking -- highly recommended.

i spent 2 nights with a friend in the double bed bedroom, when i saw the pic on the reservation website, i was attract by the combination of traditional house and the high building(finally, the traditional house is the temple just in front of the hotel), the design of Kengo Kuma is simple, convenient and low profil luxury.

in tokyo, the size of room is usually small, just as in hk, but in this hotel, not only you have a big bedroom, but also you will enjoy the big bathroom, i like the big shower, make you feel taking a show in the rain.

the employee is very helpful, well, in the 5 stars hotel, it's the basic thing.

on the departure day, we take a afternoon tea in the lobby, they make the best apple pie i even taste, i mean for a lady, this apple pie is fine, light, and delicious.

well the location is perfect, you find 3 lines under the hotel, only thing i complain, is they don't have a direct elevator from the subway station to lobby, with the big luggage, i have to move 20 stages before get the elevators.

My new favorite hotel in Tokyo! Beautiful rooms with traditional touches like paper screen between bathroom and bedroom area, lamps but ultra modern slate lined shower/tub area. fantastic views from upper level rooms but peaceful surroundings to the restaurant/bar area on lobby floor. Great use of water/vegetation to create tranquility. On Airport limo route to make transfers easy and also free transport to Roppongi for restaurants/night life. will be staying here in future for sure.

Room Tip: fabulous views from higher level rooms

Stayed here for 5 nights in a club floor level room last spring on our first visit to Tokyo. Our room was very comfortable with all the modern conveniences and lux touches. We especially liked the shower and the combination of traditional and modern aesthetics.

Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and professional. The concierge made all of our travel arrangements to Kyoto and gave us super-specific instructions on navigating the subway and train connections.

We really liked the location, which is fairly quiet and clean. You can get most places very easily as the subway line is in the basement of the hotel.

We also liked the views from the club level bar, although their liquor selection could be improved. We also had drinks in their lounge, which had a much better selection, including several excellent Japanese whiskeys.

Would highly recommend this hotel. Even though the prices were high, we felt like we received very good value and had a wonderful experience.
