ok, lets forget its expensive and focus on the real Q: is it worth the money, and the answer is - YES.

we had breakfast and the menu was small but the produce was selected to perfection.

Recommend.

“afternoon teas on recovery short holidays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

I love afternoon teas on recovery short holidays.

This time I went to EKKI at Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi. This hotel interior was designed by world famous Canadian architects Yabu Pushelberg whose work I have so admired, and this place was the early year 2000 project. It is like a living room rather than a big hotel dining space, combining ebony wood veneer, forest grey green, bronze black, warm grey mirror, pedestal of artworks, and the famous use of one slab white onyx panel placed in front of a window which transcends daylight like a glowing sheet. EKKI was comfortable to the eyes, by three the blinds came down to shield the afternoon sun.

I made a booking three hours before I arrived and requested for a window seat. The host remembered my name and told me the table was ready. The table was exactly by the windows facing east overlooking the railway tracks therefore the name of the place EKKI. This spring, Ekki had the premium afternoon tea which had an unusual combination of truffle popcorns, cinnamon churros with yuzu dip and mini wagyu burger with foie gras plus others.

I was reading flipping magazines, enjoying the ice coffee with real coffee ice cubes. As usual afternoon tea in Tokyo hotel feels like time a touch slower, the service is impeccable of politeness, smiles, quietly prompt and no rush attitude towards the guests. I was quite quite satisfied as always.

“Ok Sunday Lunch - But not Brunch!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

For Sunday brunch had a very limited menu: no choice of starters (chef's choice); 4 mains and a dessert buffet. Reasonable price but drinks (not excessive!) doubled the bill. Nice food but oversweet (including savory!). Service was over-rushed. Pleasant dining area but nothing special - no views etc.....There are better places in Tokyo for Sunday brunch,

“Wonderful setting, service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

A world away from the crowding and the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, just off the very tasteful hotel lobby. Unusual view of the high-rise buildings of Marunouchi in a very quiet and inviting space, where the tables are not all shoved together -- as in so many Tokyo eateries.

We went on a night with a special menu, so I am not so sure about the quotidian offerings, but everything was very carefully prepared and presented. Quite a variety of delicious dishes appealing both to the eye and to the palate.

The service was perfect -- attentive without being intrusive. Tokyo prices these days are among the lowest in the developed world. I cannot imagine getting this meal, this setting and this service for the price (about US$90 per person, including wine) in NYC, London, Paris or Sydney.

A place to return to and to share with friends and family. They'll love you for it.

“Exceptional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2010

I had lunch at Ekki and had ordered the set menu. The salad was beautifully presented and delicious. The main course had a bit of a problem and was quickly changed. The manager and staff were all so apologetic. I commend them for their extraordinary service. As with all of Japan, the service culture is beyond excellent - that is what makes travelling there, whether on business or leisure, such a pleasantly memorable experience.
