“Beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed there at the end of our Japan tour with Unique Japan. This is an elegant hotel located at the edge of the beautiful garden it overlooks from high above. Our room had a view of the trees and the city. The room was very nice with a fantastic bathroom. You get first class service and friendliness... and small French Valhrona chocolates at night! .
To get anywhere, we walked 10 minutes down the hill to the subway station and to small restaurants and shops including a Seven Eleven whose ATM works with non Japanese credit cards. Another time, we took the free hotel shuttle bus to a large square with lots of department stores and another subway line.
Many weddings took place while we were there, always a lovely sight with the beautiful dresses.
At the end of our tour, we had a farewell dinner in one of the tearooms in the garden which turned out the best traditional Japanese dinner we had on the entire tour. The room had tables and chairs western style, good for our old bones.

We love this hotel. Access from Narita takes a couple of hours from landing. We took the Skyliner bound for Ueno, changed to the J.R. Yamanote line at the Nippori stop. We took the train to the Meijiro stop. A quick walk across the street to the bus stop for Bus 61. 10 minute bus ride to Chinzanso stop and you're here. The grounds are lovely. The staff are top notch, typical Japanese hospitality but even more pronounced, commensurate with the class of the hotel.

The hotel offers breakfast vouchers for either Il Teatro for western style breakfast or Mizuno for Japanese style breakfast. The voucher is for ¥3100 and you can select from set menus. We chose the western style breakfast and it was just okay. We also ordered room service our first night in. Aside from being overpriced (like all room service), it was fine. They have a great variety.

The bathrooms are lovely. Private toilet area, deep tub, and a spacious standing shower stall.

The gardens are unbelievable. So peaceful and beautiful.

The staff is outstanding. We traveled with our one-year-old twins. They have a long list of convenience items for babies and are happy to provide them. We called the desk and asked for diapers as we hadn't had the chance to get to the drugstore. A staff member was at our door in less than 3 minutes with a selection of diapers. They're so helpful.

This has been such a relaxing experience. We will certainly be back.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to families, especially those with babies.

Dear cmac726-Sama,

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your review on this site. It is always nice to read what our guests like and appreciate the most.
There are several ways to get to our hotel from Narita. The easiest is the direct limousine bus, but the Skyliner which you took to Nippori is also a quick option.
We try to look after all our guests as much as possible, but of course we know that travelling with little babies is extra demanding. We therefore always pay a bit of extra attention to guests with babies, kids or other guests who might need some more assistance. The staff is glad to do more than their utmost. You already mentioned that you will certainly return. Hopefully you will have a chance to see the garden in another charming season and we are looking forward to see your twins walking through the garden when they are a bit bigger!

With warm regards,

I only stayed one night, but from the moment I walked up to the door of the lobby, I could not have been made to feel more special.

There wasn't a single element I would criticise - the gardens are stunning, the spa superb and the massage was incredible. Without doubt the most professional, tension relieving hour one could experience.

It's definitely at the classy and sophisticated end of the hotel scale, rather than a funky, contemporary hotel, but if that's your style of hotel, you will adore it.

Just having spent ten wonderful days in the Chinzanso Hotel we must say the stay has been wonderful. The garden is beautiful.

location wise, a good ten minute walk to the closest subway and not an easy WLL on the way back as the hill go the hotel is a little steep, but a nice walk and easy to find the subway.

We paid 3000 yen from the hotel to Tokyo Station which is really not so bad.

Only negative about the hotel is that there are very few restaurants withing walking distance and the hotel prices are too expensive.

Dear Adrian H-Sama,

Thank you for your relatively long stay at our hotel and for giving us your feedback through this site. The garden is indeed beautiful, no matter the season you visit. At the moment it is really nice to stroll through the garden with all the new, fresh Spring green leaves. During the day and early evening, you can actually make a short-cut through the garden to the nearest subway station to avoid the hill and save some energy.
You mentioned that there are few restaurants nearby, but near the subway there are actually quite a few, reasonably priced eateries and Kagurazaka, famous for restaurants, is less than a 10 minute taxi ride. Please ask the concierge next time you visit us to recommend places nearby. Hope to see you soon!

The lobby and rooms are absolutely beatiful. The beds and showers are great. Garden views from the rooms perfectly match the nature sounds that can be played thoughout the bedroom. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were placed in a room with incorrect bed arrangement and they immediately resolved the problem in a calm and pleasant manner. One of the nicest hotels I have ever slept in. Truly marvelous.

What I like the most is the hotel is surrounded by gardens and it has walking path in it. It's so relaxing. All the staff of the hotel are kind and helpful. It's good to families to stay in. Breakfast is delicious and nice, not so many varieties of food though

Dear Suwana-Sama,

Thank you for your recent stay at our hotel and for leaving a TripAdvisor review. We were happy to read that you had a great stay and were satisfied with our staff and facilities. The garden is indeed stunning and has a different charm in every season. At the moment several varieties of cherry trees are blooming and the trees along the river are getting pinker and pinker. We do hope you will have another chance to come and stay with us.

With warm regards from Tokyo where the cherry trees are coloring the streets pink!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2015

This is the first time that I stayed in the property since it ceased being a Four Seasons, but to be honest you can't notice the difference. This is a very good hotel, with beautiful grounds and good facilities. It is a bit annoying that prices in the bar (and in the mini-bar!) are outlandishly expensive, but that's life. Overall this property never disappoints, and I would certainly come back again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden have a beautiful view.

Dear Back_to_Sandringham Sama,

Thank you for returning to our hotel after the change from Four Seasons to Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. We were glad to see that you were satisfied and did not notice a difference in the level of service. Our staff is always doing more than their utmost to provide the best service they can. Of course the property, with the huge garden and several cultural assets, has not been changed and makes you feel you are in the country side even though you are right in one of the biggest cities in the world.
We hope to see you again in the near future.

With regards from our hotel which is about to be surrounded by pink cherry blossoms!
