I secided to stay in Sarzana because I wanted to see northern Tuscany (Lunigiana) and eastern Liguria. I was suprised to find nothing on Trip Advisor (other than advice to stay in Sarzana rather than La Spezia, without saying where to do so!).
La Villetta is a standard two-star 'Albergo' in an old palazzo, over a bank (entrance behind and below). We found it to be very clean and tidy, good size rooms for the price, good modernised en-suite bathroom with large shower (not enclosed, so more a wet room). It does not have a lift. It says "air conditioned" but our room did not have any. Rooms at the back look over its small car-park and are very quiet. Rooms at the front are over a fairly busy local road.
It doesn't seem to have a lounge area. We didn't have the hotel breakfast, we chose to do as the Italians do and get a cappucino and pastry in the nearby coffee bar.
Finally, despite its strange name (which I've forgotten), the little pizza place across the road was rather good.
