“Awful place to find and closed afternoons!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

We drove up from Maspolomas and decided to stop at a couple of places en-route so by the time we got to the town it was about 3pm. Be warned, there are no signs to the distillery and some people didn't even know where it was. We saw a large chimney with the name on it so we headed towards it only to find it was a nightmare place to get to so we parked somewhere nearby and tried walking to it. We eventually found some form on entrance with a telecom and, when we pressed it, found out it was only open mornings! So, if you want to get frustrated finding a place, and only have the mornings to do this-go to this rum distilllery. Otherwise, don't bother!

“Such variety of rum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Visited as part of a guided tour. Shown around the area where the casks full of rum are stored. You are then taken through to the bottling area which, unfortunately, was not operational.
This was followed by entering a bar area where you could sample the different types of flavoured rum. If you were not careful, you could get light headed. There was no restriction as to how many flavours you could try. The bottles were just on the bar. There was a drinks fending machine where you could get a cup of coffee and then add your rum.
There was a small shop to purchase half or full litre bottles.
Nice experience.

“Interesting but limited trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

The distillery is supposed to be the largest rum distillery in Europe but I suggest that this may be because there are not many rum distilleries on the continent as you associate the product with the West Indies and whiskey, brandy and gin with Europe. The visit is very limited but there are some points of interest. The small complex is neat and tidy and makes for an attractive photograph or two. there are barrels signed by celebrities, politicians, etc who have visited the site. there is an interesting collection of bottles showing how their design has changed over the years. Finally, there is the tasting session - not to be missed! The honey-based drink is particularly nice.
