Given that the breakfast in our hotel (the Melia) was crazily over-priced - €22 per person - we headed out the first morning in search of a decent alternative and settled on this restaurant which, as the name implies, sits at the base of the Explanada de Espana. The standard fare is tostadas, freshly-squeezed orange juice and excellent coffee, but they also have croissants, tortillas and other Spanish fare. A tostada (with jam, cheese or ham) and coffee was €2,30 and extra juice was €1,50, which was excellent value as far as we were concerned. In fact, we headed there every morning and never spent more than €5 each. The staff were extremely friendly and had a decent grasp of English. Warmly recommended.
