“Reliable midrange hotel in excellent city location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Medium sized busines style hotel located in the centre of the old town a short stroll from the lift to the castle , two artgalleries and the city hall.
Rooms are small , but very clean and well equipped. An extension lead or extra sockets would be useful though. Some rooms would benefit from a refresh to the decor.
Very efficient friendly staff. Good selection at breakfast constantly replenished.
Basement parking spaces are very useful, and resonably priced though quite small

Room Tip: The 09 rooms have a very narrow sea view, some rooms only look into a light well

Excellent location close to old town, cathedral, lift to castle and marina. Basement car parking at a reasonable price. Friendly, helpful staff. Computer available in the lobby so you can do an on-line check-in for your return flight. Good variety at breakfast. As the hotel is near clubs and bars, which empty out at 2 or 3 am, and the streets are narrow and the buildings tall, there is a bit of street noise at times. Two minor downsides: shower only, no bathtub, and the 'double' bed was just two separate singles, pushed together.

Having stayed in Alicante before at a sister hotel the Gravina 5, it was easy to find this hotel as it was next door, and only less than 5 minutes from the C6 Bus stop from the airport. Also it is less than 5 minutes from the beach and marina, and within easy reach of all the attractions.
When we arrived at the hotel we were met with a cheery face of the receptionist, who was most polite, and efficient with arrival proceedure, even down to how to use the room card to acces the lift to get to your rooms. Our room 420 on the 4th floor had a very good view of the Castle over the rooftops, and was a good size and very clean.
Breakfast was in the breakfast room on the ground floor, and was buffet type, but with much more than the usual ham and cheese. Overall i think this is a great hotel for a short break, for its position as it allows easy access to every where. There is a bit of noise at weekends, but this is mainly down to the Spanish youngsters after a few sherberts, but i am sure other rooms could be much quieter.

Room Tip: Upper floor

A good hotel in a good location especially for the gay clubs. Near to the port and the sea. The only down side is the car park is a little expensive at €12 but you can leave it there the whole next day.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Previously when we have had to be near Alicante for the night, we have used hotels near the airport. Never again!

This hotel is only one road away from the (very busy) seafront road, and right at the edge of the old town, and it has underground parking. So it has maximum convenience but relative tranquility. The beach and marina are only a short walk in one direction and the old town, with its narrow streets full of cafes and restaurants and some pretty stunning architecture are just around the corner in the opposuite direction. All in all, a pretty ideal location.

The hotel itself is well kept, clean and comfortable. Walking the corridor in the morning when the cleaners were in, we could see that some rooms were quite small. Ours, however, (319) was huge! Very comfortable large twin beds in a room with two sets of French windows each opening onto Juliette balconies with a view of the castle; stunning at night, when it is all lit up.

The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Parking is 12€ per day, but is worth it, I think, to be located in the centre of things and know that your car is safely tucked away off street and two levels underground.

Excellent value.

Tryp Ciudad, Alicante is perfectly placed for all your 'sightseeing' needs, a short and interesting stroll to the beach and harbour, the hotel is right in the middle of the beautiful old town just a short walk from the teatro principal and so many other architecturally splendid buildings.
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, our room was small but scrupulously clean, it had a good minibar and quality toiletries in the bathroom, the whole room was really well lit and I could actually see to put on make-up (that's a first)!! Best of all our room faced the stunning Castillo Santa Barbara which was illuminated at night, wonderful. Food in the hotel was fresh and plentiful. We paid less than 60 euros for one night and 12 euros per day for the underground car park at the hotel. Great value, will most certainly return.
