Poor service, not very clean, far away from everything, indoor swimming pool is a jacuzzi, fitness out of service, noisy, and the food is really bad!
In Alicante you have good hotels like THE SIDI, THE AMERIGO, EL MIO CID, please check them and don't go to the Hesperia.

Stayed at the Hesperia in April 2004 for a weekend break. Room was nice with a balcony and breakfast was amazing with a huge choice of different foods. Indoor pool was a bit smaller than the photo on the website suggests but still adequate and there was also a steam room and fitness area which was free to use. We only had good weather one day though and although it was fine when it was nice to laze about by the outside pool, when the weather wasn`t good there wasn`t that much to do as the hotel seems to be in a bit of a strange residential area. However, we did have a walk to the beach and when the sun came out again it was quite pleasant down there. I would have stayed at the hotel again as it seemed reasonably priced if it was in a different location. Food and drink was quite expensive but very good quality. Only real complaint was that on the hot day we were by the pool, they didn`t open the pool bar so we had to get up from our loungers and trek around the hotel to get drinks from the indoor bar. This wasn`t ideal.

Excellent room, clean and well equipped. The location ensures a quiet stay. Little things make the difference: the cover on the bed to put a suitcase on, the bedside carpet cover which is renewed daily, the complimentary bottle of water or the small piece of chocolate by your bed in the evening. Staff were lovely, courteous, and did their best to help.

It was okay but I agree with the other reviewers that the five stars are not justified. The room service was way too expensive and I personally found the indoor pool to be disappointingly small and shallow. The fitness area was also rather depressing. I didn't like the location of the hotel either - too residential and built-up. The nearby beach is great and the golf course is good, if you're into that kind of thing. But you don't need to stay at this hotel to enjoy the beach and the golf course.
