“An Unexpected Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

This hotel is located in the Eiffel Nationalpark right by the lake.

From the outside, it looks unpretentious but inside it is bright, modern and friendly.

My room was fabulous (get lake view if you are not just there to crash) with a nice bathroom and good products. The breakfast that was included was very good and the breakfast room looks out onto the lake.

I got a massage at the spa, 1 hour for Euro 45, which was amazing. Really fantastic value! Mirijam gave me one of the best massages I've ever had.

Challenging:
Wifi - worked only intermittendly
Calls - my husband called the hotel from the US and they struggled to put him through (due to lack of English)
Gym - while this is a wellness hotel, the wellness is purely received "passive" :-). There is no gym or space to do yoga, but a sauna and steam room.

As I speak German, I have no idea how well English is spoken at this hotel but people are very very helpful, friendly and will try to help you with anything you might need.

The surroundings are beautiful forests and some other sights. About an hour from Cologne by car.

The price for this hotel was very low compared to what I got!

We stayed for 1 night. The hotel is modern and very clean. we had a room with view of the lake. Just beautiful when you wake up you have what they call "a room with a view".
Personell was friendly and diner a la carte was good. breakfast was very good with all the choices of food one can wish.
A really excellent hotel.

Room Tip: take the room with lake view otherwisevyou are looking on the parking

We stayed at Seehof for a family reunion and to give you the short summary: the hotel ruined the whole weekend.

The positive aspects first: the hotel itself is rather nice, the rooms have recently been refurbished, staff at the reception was nice and helpful.

But there it stops: do not go near the restaurant! We reserved dinner and rooms (half board). What we got was a selection of three different dishes, the menu was not available even if you didn't like the choice. We traveled with 4 little children and they offered the kids menu only reluctantly and only after us asking twice for it.

Although we had booked this arrangement we had to wait 2 (!!!) hours for our food the quality of which was apalling. When we complained the waiter first tried to discuss, than started insulting us. We asked for the manager at the reception but were told we was not reacheable. Apparently he was unreacheable for a longer period of time as we have never heard back.

After this terrible evening things did not get much better with breakfast the next morning: apparently there is no cleaning service at weekends; we found last night's fries and many other leftovers under our breakfast table. If you then look a bit closer and find ant trails in the restaurant you do not really want to know more....

We stayed at the De Seehof to break up the journey from Austria. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel has a large terrace overlooking the Rursee and we had dinner (very good) on the terrace on our second night. It was lovely. Our room was of a good size, modern and clean with wonderful views of the lake and surrounding countryside. I would suggest that you booking a room with a Lake view and balcony, otherwise the back of the hotel overlooks a large carpark, which incidentally is free. There are many walks to be had and you can take a trip on one of the lake boats which is also very close to the hotel. We will certainly be going back to this hotel and area.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a lovely view over the lake, either with or without a balcony.

We stayed in the Der Seehof for an overnight stay on the way to Austria and found it to be a fantastic location on a lovely lake with superb terraces to enjoy the views.
Our room was overlooking the lake and was just perfect in every way. Comfy, clean and modern with a great bathroom.
It is a little remote but this hotel is a great place for an overnight stopover.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and book a lake view with balcony!

We spend two nights here in May 2013 with 2 dogs and our teenage son.

What makes this hotel is the location, with fantastic views over the lake and surrounded by woodland for walking and cycling. It is rural, on the edge of a small village. The hotel is modern and therefore a little austere. However, it is clean and well maintained, with courteous and helpful staff, although they lacked information about the restaurant and massage appointments. Our suite was very spacious, and our son was able to sleep on a comfortable sofabed in the living area. The bathroom with shower only was excellent. The spa facilities are compact but include a turkish style steam room, sauna, sunbed, showers, and masseuse, who is very good (and speaks English). Appointments are made via reception but there is no diary for this purpose, so book in advance if you can - she appears to be about in the evenings. Next to the hotel is a sailing school/club with lots of facilities. Also the excersion boats around the lake start from the hotel. The restaurant was good and it is open until quite late in the evening. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. We shall return, probably to learn how to sail in 11 days!

The only downside I can imagine is that this place must get very, very busy in the summer.... the car park facilities for day trippers are huge!

Room Tip: Rooms with a lake view make this place special and you get less car park noise.

The hotel is a very modern and clean style, with plenty of glass and open spaces.
The outlook from the lake view windows are lovely and having doors to fully open up to appreciate that view is excellent.- certainly worth the extra even if stopping for only one night.
Everything you need in a modern room with a bit of style.
Apart from the lake and its amenities there isn't anything else all that close and to visit other places to eat does mean a car or taxi ride - although on our visit we struggled to get a taxi- even with the help of the receptionist, who did her utmost to try and assist by calling various suppliers.
The lack of other things close by could well be what you're looking for, as their were plenty of walks to take and the ferry docked almost outside of the hotel.
The food was quite plain but we had a lovely meal on one of the nights whilst here.
Bar opening times were odd but it may have been the bank holiday.
A lovely deck to walk out onto and enjoy the sunset, some parts behind glass, so keeping the wind off of you.

As a travelling group the safe and plentiful parking was a bonus.

Room Tip: Lake view was worth paying the extra
