“Great professional hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

I have been staying here for over 10 years every Autumn, the staff have always been friendly and very helpful, the rooms are very comfortable with plenty of space, and excellent bathrooms.
The buffet style breakfast covers all one could wish, and the evening meals have been very acceptable... whilst effectively on the autobahn, I have always found the hotel quite, it is well located and a hotel I enjoy returning too. I shall look forward to my stay this September...

This is an excellent hotel, newer and with all the amenities. We had a ground floor room on the south side (away from the autobahn) and used it as a base to explore the surrounding area for a couple of days. The in room coffee maker and fridge were welcome as was the AC. Noise was not a problem. The bar was very good (they will make a pizza for you, loads cheaper than the restaurant) but the breakfast was pricey so we passed on that. The sauna and steam room were excellent and most welcome. The gym was well used and a bit noisy at times when trying to relax in the adjacent sauna. The wifi never worked the entire 3 days we were there which is the only reason I can't give this a 5 circle rating.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter.

I had a 2-night (business-related) stay in a junior suite on the north side, facing the highway.
As mentioned in other reviews, there is noticeable noise in the room from the highway (mainly heavy trucks can be heard, and very fast cars, this IS the German highway), but it was certainly not of a level that kept me from either relaxing in the evening in front of the large TV, or sleeping at night (after admittedly rather tiring working days).
The room and hotel are very clean and well kept, the whole place exudes a quiet air of professionalism. Somebody is running a tight ship here, and it shows!
The staff is excellent: friendly, highly professionally, helpful. I was made to feel at home, but nobody ever intruded into my privacy, which is exactly what I like.
I probably just like German efficiency :-) , but I have seen 5-star hotels doing a lot worse than this 4-star hotel, and if you can stand just a tiny bit of noise, or ask for a south facing room (which might be more expensive) you will not be sorry you booked a room there.

This is a really nice new hotel with a nice relaxing environment, with a good bar and restaurant as well as a reasonably equipped gym and spa with lots of new equipment.

However, it is often noisy and food is quite expensive (although normal for a hotel of this type). The showers are also pretty poor. A good hotel overall though and the comfort probably outweighs the negative points.

Rooms - nice and big/comfortable with pretty much everything you need (no iron but the bathrooms get so steamy just hang up your stuff in there and it is crease free fairly quickly). Definitely ask for a room facing the back of the hotel as the other side looks onto the main motorway.

Gym - nice small gym on the top floor with the normal selection of cardio equipment. All the equipment was new. Resistance machines are limited with no free weight area although the equipment is multi purpose e.g. the lateral pulldown machine converts into a seated row machine, the bench press converts into a shoulder press and the leg curl turns into a hamstring curl which I thought was quite unique.

Food - the restaurant is really nice and the weissbier here is also very good. Normal sort of hotel selection menu and normal hotel prices for this sort of place. Can be quite slow service. The cigar bar also has a good selection of food, I've had the club sandwich before which was really good/filling.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid the noise from the motorway at the front. Higher f...

Located just off the autobahn Van der Valk is ideally located for someone just stopping over for a night or someone who wants to stay longer. the hotel has great rooms that are large, clean and modern, beds are comfortable and not too soft. would recommend the south facing rooms since the motorway runs on the north and it can be noise if you prefer to sleep with your window cracked open. the staff is very polite and the breakfast is the stuff of legends :-)

only one suggestion would be to offer complementary wifi with the room instead of charging for it. although there is a business center that you can use for free.

Room Tip: South side rooms are quieter

Very nice hotel. After reading previous reviews I booked a hotel on the south side.
Our room was very spacious. Very comfortable beds. Bathroom was very big with a separate bath and shower.
Pleasant staff at check in/out. Breakfast was excellent, warm and hot options. Everything fresh.
Secure car park. You can hire bicycles to explore the area.
I would certainly return to this hotel when I am in the area.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the south side if you don't like traffice noise.

Clean, comfortable, large rooms and comfortable beds!

Right next to the autobahn, but the hotel is so well sound proofed that its not a problem.
But if you are a really light sleeper chose a roof on the south side just to be sure.

Good value for money, and efficient pleasant staff.

An excellent , convenient stopping point
