“last minute weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

although hotel has clearly seen better days, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at this hotel which is now on the way up. great to see young marc and his wife making a go of something that could once again be a gem. arrived friday night and had a pint by the roaring fire. nothing too much trouble or bother

room 1 has
been repainted and redecorated. comfortable and warm with hot powerful shower

had steak supper when we arrived - very good and well presented

breakfast freshly cooked on both days - more than adequate

choice of beer and wine limited but easily solved

located not far from junction 44 on M6 so easily accessible

Carlisle 10 minutes away - suited our requirements just perfectly, will definately be back

We stayed one night here en route to Wales. We arrived on a Sunday evening, and unfortunately were too late for dinner, but were recommended a pub about a mile away, the Stag Inn, where we had a fabulous meal. Our room had a 4 poster bed which was extremely comfortable!! The hotel is on the main road, but noise is kept to a minimum with triple glazing. The new owners are doing a great job, they are very friendly and providing a great service. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt, full breakfast, tea/coffee, toast etc!! All in all, great value for money! Would definitely recommend!

Hi. I arranged a family get together at Wallfoot.Marc And Mandi, put an excellant buffet on and got us a disco. A good time was had by all..Local beers are served, with good quality wine.I am hoping to arrange another family get together in the near future.A lovely fire was on in the bar.and wood burner on in the small resturant that you go through to the big one where the disco was.

Room Tip: All rooms are freshly decorated. This is a very friendly meeting place with excellant food. The hotel...

Tasty,Freshly cooked food rooms a bit shabby. Car park and garden could do with tidy up to make outside more welcoming. Comfortable and good food for price. New mangers working hard to get it back on track.

We booked the Wallfoot hotel as it was the mid point for our family to meet for christmas lunch, one side travelling from Glasgow and the other from Hartlepool. After reading the reviews we were looking forward to the home made food and we were not let down.

When we all arrived we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the owners. The atmosphere was relaxed and homley and we were even treated to the appearance of the owners young son which had the ladies of our party coo'ing.

The christmas lunch menu had plenty of choice from the traditional roast turkey dinner to a fantastic steak with jack daniels sauce. All the food was fresh and home made with generous portions and we were not rushed at any point nor were we left waiting for food, the timing between courses could not have been any better.

The four course christmas lunch was very competitivley priced.

We would certainly recomend this restuarant.

Over the last fortnight I have eaten here three times and on each occasion have found the food to be excellent. The new mangement are very friendly and welcoming and are extremely eager to make your visit with them enjoyable. There staff are also polite, friendly and helpfull and no request is to much for them. They are definitely working under the principal of meeting all their guests requirements and more. The Hotel was a little run down when the new owners took over and there are improvements to be made to the decor but if this young couple carry on with the optimism and enthusiasm that they showed me, they will turn this hotel around into a thriving business in no time. I wish them the best of luck, and will be returning often.
