“very welcoming, perfect place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

From the second we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The b&b is in beautiful and peaceful surroundings, even having a stream running through the spacious grounds. Because of the location the area is quiet and undisturbed. The rooms were lovely, nicely decorated with high ceilings and retsining period features. The food was great, Alisdair looked after us very well, making sure the log fire was lit for us on an evening and even serving us breakfast in the garden one morning. It was a truly relaxing break and we enjoyed every minute.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a wonderful area for hiking and enjoying nature. The night sky is amazing with stars! Our room was lovely and very comfortable. The view out of our window of the countryside, of green rolling hills, was peaceful and beautiful. Our hosts made us feel entirely welcome and at home. We wish we could have stayed longer, and we look forward to returning.

From the moment we turned up the narrow road that winds it's way over hills spotted with grazing cattle and past picturesque windmills before descending into the charming village of Barr, I knew we were not just going to some ordinary B&B. Our hosts greeted us warmly and offered suggestions for lovely walks along the river and into the nearby hills. The beds are so cozy and comfortable that it was hard to make ones self get up and about but the perfectly prepared, simple breakfast was a real treat. Book your stay at Alton Albany Farm B&B now, this place is just lovely!

Room Tip: We have stayed in multiple rooms on various trips. All are spotlessly clean and very comfortable

I stayed at this farm looking for some peace and quiet before the onslaught on Christmas - it was perfect. Warm fires, good food, friendly hosts and the next morning a roaring river to walk alongside. Although I visited in the Winter I think the garden is beautiful at other times of the year and I'll certainly be back to investigate.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and peaceful
