“Heaven on Earth!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012 via mobile

If I could give location a 10 I would. At night I felt like I could touch the stars.

We all had such a wonderful time. The perfect hosts at the perfect place. We truly felt we were home away from home.

My wife & I along with my 2 cousins & their wives recently stayed here. the owners, Loretta & Roy knew we were arriving late and waited up till we got there. the place is beautiful and is well above any b&b you might be used to. it is immaculate with the most georgous views of the countryside. We were doing so much driving so that we could see all the sights and told our hosts we had to leave before breakfast was served. Loretta and Roy asked us when we had to leave and we told them 6:30-7:00. No problem, they got up earlier and made us a breakfast to remember. Even if you are not in the area make the Hilltpo Lodge a destination on your next trip

The owners (Loretta and Roy) stayed up late to await my arrival due to travelling from Dublin; arriving at 10:30pm.
The quality of my room was above that what you would expect at a B&B; it was more akin to a 4* hotel.
My breakfast was a full Irish fry; copious amounts of coffee and toast, all served in a bright open plan dining area. The Hilltop lodge is a gem of a B&B and I would recommend it for anyone staying in the Moville, Shroove, or Greencastle area of Donegal. It also has wonderful vista of the Donegal countryside(see attached photos).
It is a tad difficult to find, as my SatNav couldn't find Carrowhugh Road. However, once you past Cavanaghs Pub on your right hand side heading to Shroove, there is a sign post for the Hilltop lodge about a mile from the pub on the right hand side. Turn left up the narrow road and you'll find it without too much trouble, it about 600 yards.

We visited Donegal with a couple from England. All very impressed with welcome received, accommodation and food. The views were stunning in fact you could just have sat in the lounge all day looking over the countryside. Loretto and Roy made us feel very welcome. So if you are looking for a spotlessly clean Bed and Breakfast with good food, good hosts and brilliant views this should be your number one choice. Thank you to Loretto and Roy.

Loretto and Roy were so fantastic. The room was spotless and very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. I wasn't well in the morning and Loretto was more than happy for me to stay a little longer while my friend visited Malin Head and came back for me later. Wonderful place with marvellous people.

We were fortunate to have been referred to this property while in Greencastle for a wedding and after reading the TripAdvisor reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. Other reviewers raved about the luxury of the accommodations and the wonderful view and the great breakfasts (especially the Irish Fry) and all of that was true. But what made our stay truly exceptional was the personal care and attention we received from Roy and Loretto. They went out of their way to make us feel at home in their home and we really appreciate everything they did for us. We regretted having to leave when the weekend was over and we will definitely return when we are next in Donegal. As an example of their exemplary hospitality, Loretto went to a significant amount of trouble to ship us some of our belongings that we had inadvertently left behind. I can't imagine that anyone else would have done what she did. Our belongings were returned to us the next day, and they were vitally important to the next leg of our trip.
We enjoyed chatting with Roy and Loretto over tea and we feel like we made some new friends.
Ask them about their family and get Roy to share his experiences as a Division 1 footballer with Norwich. Fascinating! And on top of that, Roy was a scratch golfer.
Great people, a great place and a great weekend! If you're anywhere near Greencastle, stay there. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed here 2 nights and we should have stayed longer. Loretto and Roy were brilliant and so was the breakfast! The room was clean and tidy and the bed was so comfortable.I would thoroughly recommend this B&B to anyone. The views are fantastic and on a clear day you can see fromPortrush to Londonderry, a distance of 55 miles!
