“Nothing like the price we paid for.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Upon on arrival at the lobby, all seemed well with polite receptionist and had a buggy sent us to our room.

Room was OK but had ants issues. Couldn't drain water from bathtub. Asked for extra towels and was shocked to be told that we had to pay RM30.00 for the use of an extra towel??? I had never had to pay for the use of an extra towel in any hotel!

Breakfast was horrid. There were flies everywhere landing on the cheese platter, bread platter, etc. The cook who was manning the egg station couldn't even cook a proper egg! We actually witness the cook shake his head and throw away his own cooked egg! It was that bad!I ended up having cereal - with warm milk!

We paid SGD240.00/RM600.00 for this bedroom - a much too high a price to pay for this place!

It is indeed a nice relaxing holiday destination. Beautiful room and toilet. Nice quiet back to nature environment. Very comfortable soft bedsheet and pillow. You just dont feel like getting out from it.However, improvement can be made for the room sound proof. Basically, if you are staying at the ground floor u can hear every single steps from the room upstairs. So, if there are kids upstair that dont sleep at night, you can kiss ur good night sleep.goodbye.

Stayed in this beautiful resort for 1 night. Unaware that malacca has such a hidden oasis right in the middle of the jungle.

I was awestruck by the architecture and the landscaping, the swimming pool and waterfall in the middle of the resorts.

A couple of disappointment for the management improvement though:

Firstly, upon arriving at our room, the TV was not working, and technician only fixed it in 3 hours, very unacceptable from a 5 stars hotel.

Secondly the sauna room was also down due to some maintenance.

Thirdly the buffet breakfast was a huge disappointment. The spread is cheap and unpleasant coming from 5 stars standard - cheap in ways like serving frozen food choices. I would give the food a mediocre 2.5 stars. During the breakfast, loud Malay pop songs were played, not to be offensive or discriminate, but somewhat nice soothing jazz would be a better option as many of the guests are not locals.

Last but not least, the restaurant next to the pool, I wonder what their crews are doing as the tables are not wiped clean and has a layer of grease on it - speaking of 5 stars it's not even there.

All in all, the environment and quality of the room and facilities score easily 5 stars but the quality of service, food and details is a low 2 stars.

To get to the hotel if one is driving from Singapore to exit at ayer keroh exit..after toll follow sign to the taman Rama rama or butterfly park...at a junction follow sign to hotel majesty ..
Check in was a breeze...lobby is airy and staff are friendly...
Room concept is like a log cabin...req for 2nd level if staying in the standard room as the rooms are made of logs so one can hear other pple coming n going down the stairs...
As i was staying during the Ramadan period they substitute the buffet breakfast with sahur meal...every evening will get a call from them asking for how many pple for sahur and what time should they send the meals to us..receive my meals on time and of perfect proportion..
Everything is beautiful and it is one of the truly relaxing holiday i ever had..if one is looking to get away from the hustle n bustle of city life ..this place is highly recommended...
Only drawback:kids club nothing much in there..my kids got bored just after 5minute and lots of dead flies on the floor...
Room can get a bit warm in the afternoon even with ceiling fan and air con

Just return from the resort. As mentioned by many, due to the wooden construction, sound proofing is a major challenge for this resort. This could easily be over come by asking the reception to try assign you a diagonal room from an occupied one or better still, be the only one in the block ;) the key attraction of the resort is the pool under the man made waterfall. Hence nothing much to do if your are travelling with young children. But since we drove, we drive down to malacca for food and shopping. The resort give you a feel of living in the Forrest with trees all around you..very cold at nite even without the aircon on but surprisingly no mosquitoes.. My family actually enjoy our stay but the smell of wood need some getting use to. The buffet breakfast is fine though nothing to shout about and the spa is a little expansive

Room Tip: Ask for a room where you are the only guest, possible only if it is low on occupancy. The wooden con...

Dear mum-Emma,

Thank you very much for your valuable review and thank you for staying with us. Your kind understanding is very much appreciated in terms of staying in a log resort. We have worked with third party vendors/ professionals in terms of sound proofing but to no avail as most of the suggested ideas will take away the natural ambience of a log resort.

Once again, thank you for your valueable feedback and we look forward to welcome you and your family back to our resort.

This is a fairly new hotel (approx 2years old) with the Eco theme. I found it quite corny with " log" cabins and the rooms smell of wet timber when you walk it. It was not busy at all when I was there. Mind you this place is not easy to find. There is a big sign just before the Ayer Keroh toll advising you where the resort is and after that.....you are on your own! The turn off to the resort is the first left turn after the toll where the turn off to the Taman Rama Rama (Butterfly farm) is. The food served at the resort was very average. If you are looking at getting away from the city just for the weekend with nothing to do but sit back and relax this place may be ok for you but this is just not for me. Service is ok and staff is friendly. Would I come back again...Hmmmm sorry I would not as this is just not my cup of tea...fake "Log" cabins..Pfftttt!

Dear Fasted09,

Thank you very much for your comments once again. Regarding the signage, we are working with the local authorities in getting approval for more signages to be up for the convenience of our guests. We regret on the inconvenience caused to you during your stay.

As for the logs, I would like to clarify that they are genuine pine logs and this has resulted in Philea being awarded as the "First Log Resort" and the "Largest Log Resort" by the Malaysia Book of Records.

Last but not least, we thank you for your comments and we look forward to be host to your once again. Have a good day ahead!

Our department went there for our away day from 19 - 20 July 2012. The first impression when I arrived was it looks like a normal resort to me. But when I went to our lodging, it proves me wrong! I'm totally in love with the room - cozy, warm, clean with beautiful decors that gives me a serene feeling. Because I'm staying down stairs, I heard sounds of people walking upstairs which is a little annoying to me especially when it's night time.

Regarding the foods, certain foods are nice and certain aren't. Improvement could be made in this area. Also, the whole department participate in the team building activity at the resort. Time organization is not so good considering we need to wait for some time to do one activity after another.

Service wise, it's good! The receptionist was attentive towards my needs.

In a nutshell, I would be happy to revisit this resort as I'm totally in love with the lodging.

Room Tip: It is advisable to a get a room on the upstairs. But please be mindful to put on the slippers provid...
