“Severin what a great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

This hotel is a brilliant place to stay, Just come back from 2 weeks there, the service, staff rooms are brilliant. The rooms have just been refurbished and are cool clean and comfortable. The food good, a mixture of a la carte and buffet loads to choose from, slow service at times when busy but if you are in a hurry let the staff know and they will be double quick. The manager was brilliant he donated lots of surplus supplies to our charitly to help out a local orphanage. Just to mention too the all important air conditioning was amazing never let us down was clean and comfortable and did not get the usual throat thing going on, so well serviced thanks to adam's company http://www.panashcoairconditioning.com
I have been to Kenya 3 times in 18 months now, stayed in differing hotels and apart from the amazingly expensive white sands I cannot fault this hotel. You won't be dissapointed. Thanks to management and staff for making our stay one to remember x

I just checked to see it was convenient but not at all, there are more hotels with same service and better prices (half of it). The only nice thing is the pool facing the ocean and its garden, but if you are in another hotel and going there for a drink is the same....

We stayed at the Severin Sea Lodge in May 2013 as it was one of the few hotels in the north coast offered by Thomson. Stayed bed and breakfast, breakfast was perfectly adequate but we felt the food in the evenings was expensive and not that spectacular so we ate out most nights. The bar prices were expensive too so if not out at a local bar we drank our own alcohol in our room.... We felt this was a shame as we probably missed getting to know the staff and it didn't feel quite as relaxing as previous holidays in Kenya.
The superior room was lovely and we were very happy with it. Fab bathroom, comfortable beds and good air conditioning. One major irritation was the unreliability of the free wifi. It didn't work at all in our room and was intermittent in the bar areas. We had to change our password several times which meant waiting round the cash office for long periods as most staff did not seem to know how to deal with problems with the system.
Would not go back as we have felt more comfortable elsewhere but it would suit some people fine.

I spent a few days here with a friend recently and overall was what I expected. The reservation team in Germany were very helpful and even upgraded our room. I found the staff throughout the hotels extremely accommodating and friendly making guests feel welcome. Premises were well kept and spacious. The only downside are all the local Beach boys selling their wares which discourage you from spending too much time hanging on the beach. Overall would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good value in Mombasa.

Room Tip: Book through the reservation center in Germany

This was my first time going to Mombasa, overall it was a good experience. We visited in June 2013. The hotel food was okay but quite expensive. We went out to eat mostly. The swimming pools were fantastic, the bungalow rooms were okay not that bad. Could of been a bit better, like had a TV and stuff. Have you watch out for the monkies when eating, we had them steal our food on several occasions and they're so quick they'll be gone and you won't even know what happened! Only thing I have to complain about is the BEACH. It was okay, bit dirty from time to time and the locals were there ALL the time. They were friendly, but they bug you so much on the beach it becomes a little annoying all the time. Once one leaves you, another twenty are waiting. Other then that, lovely hotel - staff were really helpful and nice and they hold shows in the evening which are great to watch!

Room Tip: The bungalows are nice, and the area over there is pretty quiet and relaxing.

We have been to Mombasa a lot and have stayed at various hotels, but we find Severin the best and will now only go there. The food is excellent and the staff are first class, always going out of their way to help you. As for the beach boys, they are great if you take a little time to speak with them and get to know them. They are only trying to earn enough to get by and to eat! Aren't we lucky that in the UK we don't have to struggle like they do. Anyone who complains about them, should think twice about how lucky they are themselves, they don't have the NHS or unemployment benefit, but we do. Enough said. A great hotel and excellent value for money - looking forward to our return in October and December.

We stayed here in June, our first trip to kenya, people were nice and friendly, the room was a decent standard. I wouldn't say this is a place to go if you want a beach holiday as the beach is barely used by tourists and filled with the locals selling, they're friendly enough but it begins to get annoying when you just want a nice walk down the beach. The Pool was nice, the time we went beginning of june there where quite a few days without sun, and a few rain showers, no tan. The breakfast was pretty good with a good selection and variety, we were only bb and had food in the main restaurant and weren't that impressed but the other menu was ok, and more reasonable. We ended up visiting a few places to eat outside which were much cheaper.
Overall the place was nice, and comfortable, and fairly clean, i would just suggest explore other places to eat, to make your money go further.
