After 13 days of safari in Tanzania and Kenia, this was a realy relaxing place. A nice hotel at the beach. Good food, a nice staff, good rooms, a nice swimming pool and only a few steps from the beach. Only when you go to the beach there are a lot of people who want to sell you things. So if you don't like that, stay near the pool. There are guards who make sure that the people don't come to the hotel. They also make sure that the monkeys stay away.
We booked a city tour to Mombasa on the beach. We had a very nice tour for much less money. We booked our tour with: Smile Africa Tours & Travels. The owners are: August and Rama. You can find them every day on the beach. I don't say what we payed but you can bargain with them.
The result is very nice.

After 2 weeks of safari we spend 4 days at Severin Sea Lodge. Rooms and especially the bathroom were (compared to the rest) very good. It was clean and the toilet and shower worked.
2 Pools with everyday a couple of activities like waterpolo or aquagym.
Problem with the beach was the salesman, they are very disturbing.
There is little to do at this hotel. Only one tabletennis table. De evening entertainmant was bad.

I stayed at Severin with a large group of friends in May 2012. We had a special group discount but even without that I would say that Severin is great value for money. My room was big and bright with a nice balcony overlooking the area.

I tried two of the restaurants and I liked them both, specially the late-breakfast buffet.

The only drawback I can think of was the AC: It had two settings, on or off, and it was quite loud. But if you let it run through the day then your room would be cold enough to sleep through the night.

You can buy wifi vouchers at the cashier's desk - choose the 24h ones if you're staying more than a couple of days.

The Severin Sea Lodge is located at the northern end of the beach and you're advised not to walk along the roads at night, mainly because there are no street lights. But there were always taxis available outside the gate, so no problem there either. And during daytime you can walk along the beaches to the bar/restaurant/nightclub area

Uh, and don't leave any food or nuts on the balcony, it will be gone within minutes, thanks to the local monkeys.

Just spent 4 days here with my family and had a great time. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly well equipped. We had one of the bungalows on the side and we in room fridge, safe, tea and coffee facilities and a 32" flat screen TV (channels are a bit limited but I hooked up my tablet which kept the kids amused when we wanted to chill out).

The on-site facilities cover the main items that you would want on a holiday. There are two pools (be warned they are both fairly deep and small children might struggle), small slide and a jacuzzi (ask for it to be switch on). Couple of restaurants and bars to choice from though there are plenty on that stretch of beach. Small gym (I think one treadmill, one rowing machine, one cross-trainer and a couple of dumbbells.). Spa with massages (very relaxing and not too pricey). Entertainment most evening, we had live singers, acrobats, reptiles (kids loved handling lizards and snakes), disco, etc.

But really made the holiday was the staff. Little bit slow but nothing is to much trouble for them. From helping with the sunbeds (plenty available), to making a custom dinner for my kids, sorting out local visits and keeping supplies in the room topped up.

Quibbles, the food was good but portions a bit small on the days they have a set menu. Beach was covered in seaweed (small area in front of the hotel is cleaned though) and busy with hawkers (just tell them you are not interested and they will go away), though neither is the fault of the hotel.

Note, you made find it cheaper to book direct with the company, their e-mail is on their website and they are based in Germany though had no problems doing the transaction in English.

We stayed here for 5 nights as a family of 16 people of whom 7 were kids. The hotel pricing is a great deal compared to other hotels in Mombasa. The hotels staff are extremely friendly and always ready to assist. The go out of their way to ensure guests are comfortable. The food served us fresh and has excellent taste. The animation team was superb and the evening entertainment was good especially when the Safari Sounds Band plays. My recommendation would be to extend the entertainment time a little bit longer to end at midnight instead of 11pm. The water slide at the hotel needs to be smoothed out as it is rough on the back side as one descends down. The location of the hotel is superb as it gives easy access to other entertainment hotspots in Mombasa such as Wild Waters Park, Tamarind Dhow, Haller Park, Yuls and the major malls in Mombasa such as City Mall. The hotel is located walking distance on the beach from Yuls who provide all sorts of water sports such as jet skis and surfing. It is also located walking distance from Mombasa Go Karting and Paint balling for adrenaline fun.

we have been staying at this hotel for the past 25 years and have really enjoyed the personal service and the friendliness of all the staff here. it certainly is a home for us and a real value for money. Since we are Vegans the head chef would personally come and prepare our menu. The animation team keeps us busy with all different activities so there is something for all to do.Finally the rooms are big and clean with newly fitted showers.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are nearer the bigger pool and the deluxe rooms towards the other pool but all ha...
