It was a 5 hour drive to Mt Surprise, we were extremely keen to look around and check in. Our attention was drawn to the fact that the front desk was unattended, we then followed instructions to find assistance and ended up having to phone the caretakers. After checking in, and receiving the key to our accommodation, we had noticed the surroundings of the park were completely different to how they portrayed online. The mini golf seemed run down and unattended to. The room was smaller than described, and also lacked any ceiling fans, and a stove. The TV was smaller than our Apple Macbook 13 inch laptop, which was extremely disappointing, as I had two teenage children with me. There was only air conditioner in the bedroom area. The bunk beds were extremely unstable. We were accompanied by our miniature maltese x poodle. We were asked to keep her outside, while dogs at least 5 times were size were roaming the park. Our dog Molly, is not very sociable and would have easily gotten into a fight, concerned with her safety. She has never spent a night outside in her life, and the term "Pet Friendly" led us to believe that she would be allowed in the cabin, which was not the case. 3 hours after checking in, we were given 2 choices as Molly was not allowed in the cabin. We were told that she had to stay outside, or we would have to leave. So we opted to leave. They were kind and refunded us fully, but we think this was meant to happen as just as we were about to leave, the power and water went out for the whole of mount surprise. We would have loved to stay and explore some more. The care takers were very nice, as were the local people. If you do not have a dog as a family member like us, you would probably extremely enjoy the park and surroundings.
If they say sofa bed, make sure it is actually a sofa bed. Ours wasn't.. It was a "bedrock...
