“Well worth a visit, the best!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2010

Having been invited to a wedding in Kelso we were very fortunate to find this wonderful Bed and Breakfast (through a previous review on tripadvisor) for our overnight stay. This has to be the best B & B we have ever stayed in because of the warm welcome, cleanliness, room, breakfast the list could be endless. We will certainly try and plan a return visit but for longer. Clare and David were lovely hosts so friendly and it was obvious they enjoy what they do and have taken a lot of time and effort in turning their family home into such an excellent B & B.

My husband and I have just returned from a week self catering in Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders. We stayed at the Mill House and it was an excellent stay.

We were self catering at the Mill in what is basically a ground floor apartment, used to be the pig sty!! It was really beautiful! We had a very warm welcome from Clare and David who own Mill House. They really made us feel very welcome.

The accomodation was spotless with 3 foot thick walls to keep out all noise! A superking size bed, a dishwasher and 10/10 shower, what more could you ask for!

There is a fab pub/hotel, The Border, within walking distance which was really excellent for dinner.

Plenty of walking in the area and Kelso only 7 miles away.

Clare showed us round the B&B before we left and WOW! It is really fab. A HUGE drawing room for guests and even a hot tub. Fab views from the balcony too.

Clare keeps hens so a very fresh egg for breakfast was superb!

I would have no hesitation in recommending this to you.

On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Clare who showed us to our room. As soon as we stepped into the Mill House we were impressed by the high standard of cleanliness. The lounge is beautiful, huge light and airy with fantastic views. We stayed in the riverview room. It was immaculate. All the little extras and attention to detail were appreciated. The room was spotless and there was even a freestanding fan in case we got too warm! As well as the obligatory tea and coffee in the room Clare had provided a small frige on the landing outside ou bedroom which contained fresh milk. On top of the fridge she had a basket with speciality teas etc. The bed was massive and made up with crisp white sheets and superior bedding. The ensuite had a double shower unit with a fantastic powerful shower. Needless to say it was spotless and the towells and facecloths were white and fluffy. Clare has positioned tasteful nick nacks which gave it a homely feel.
The breakfast room was equally impressive. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented with only the best of ingredients. We had "proper" coffee and the preserves were in lovely pottery jars - not the usual little plastic prepacks. We had an excellent meal in the Border Inn which is walking distance. Clare booked that for us prior to arrival. It is very popular so booking is recommended. Even although it was extremely busy the service was friendly and efficient and the food top class but that's another review! David and Clare have put a lot of love and hard work into their Bed and Breakfast and it's certainly paid off. We will be back!

Lovely location, built in an old water mill. Rooms were large, well furnished and really comfortable. The host family looked after us, and the breakfast in the morning was absolutely fantastic. Really recommended. On the route of the St Cuthbert's Way.
