The Tonogaya Park is tiny, tucked away (a short walk south from the Kokubunji station), and largely free of tourists. Despite its size, it had more beautiful trees, ponds, flowers, and scenery of any garden I went to in Tokyo. What drew us to this park, however, is the fact that it has a bamboo grove. I don't know of any other park right in the heart of Tokyo that has bamboo like this: stunning! We decided against a trip to Kyoto to see the bamboo forest, so we needed a place in Tokyo to see bamboo and this park was perfect. We took so many pictures there -- definitely my favorite park in Tokyo!
