This old traditional place is best for special occasion. We went with 11 family members to celebrate New Year in an individual villa. Each room is made in a traditional tea house. Our room was one of the largest for 12 people and it was located at the end of river in the garden and close to outside toilet. You need to reserve in advance to get an individual villa. As it is in the mountain, temperature is colder and we could see frozen ice on watermill. When we arrived on time, the room was not yet warmed up and it took some time to heat up. We were warm when we grilled on charcoal stove but it gets cold after the grill is finished. Services is speedy and food is simple and good. You need to be attentive when grilling as it gets burnt quickly. As it was Oshogatsu, the new year, there were some festive events (rice cakes, rice wines, amazake for free) for guests and it was a perfect way to enjoy Japanese tradition. The Japanese garden is made with precise detail of old Japanese stroll garden with red bridge, pond with carps, river and watermills. You can enjoy the path in this Japanese stroll garden when approaching to your villa and after meal to get a special feeling.
