Found this place on the way to the train station in Athenry with my girlfriend. i don't drink coffee but my girlfriend does, and she said the coffee there is fantastic. Not my thing but she was raving about it. I've had to bring her back since then for more coffee!! I had a lovely crepe with ham, cheese and egg in it. Very tasty and it filled a gap.
It's a very interesting little place with products from local artists and food producers. It sort of reminds me of Lilliput Stores up in Stoneybatter, Dublin, who also do a fine line in coffee and home grown produce along with an artisan atmosphere. The main stay of the Nook are crepes though and there is a good variety of them on the menu and the owner told me they are made with locally sourced ingredients.
The girl who works there (Julie- who also owns it) is really friendly and chatty. There was a constant stream of people in and out and Julie had a nice word to say to everyone.
Prices in there are very reasonable, you'd get tea/coffee and a crepe for around six euro.
Even though it is a small place, it has a 'boutique' style atmosphere and I'd highly recommend it for tea/coffee, food or even just a chat with the lovely owner who seems to be running a great little ship there!
