Will only put down a short review since plenty of others appear to have had the same great experience as we did.

Have just returned from one week B&B. Booked direct with the hotel and got flights separately for a good saving (hotel even layed on free taxi transfers from the airport huge improvement over package tour buses).

The best bits
- great breakfast buffet
- stunning pools (one full of kids having fun and another quieter one for adults to chill out in)
- lobby area is I think the most impressive I have ever seen with the amount of greenery going on (and I have experience a handful of 4* / 5* hotels).
- Great room, nice balcony included separate shower and bath.

The ok bits
- the piano bar and music hall was perfectly fine but lack character as the hotel was so quiet
- the food in the pool bar was ok but not as good as can be found a v short walk away (Cafe Juan Lamos or Lazy Days being our favourites)
- Service at the front desk was nothing to complain about but was a mixed bag depending on who was working.

All in all a fantastic holiday that was only spoilt by the entire area being very quiet. We were told the area's high season was November to March however.

Also I thought it was probably a good sign that the hotel and resort was obviously very popular with the Spanish so the place wasnt overrun with "All Day Breakfasts" and "Irish Pubs" but would have something for every taste.

What a beautiful experience!
1) The rooms were large and well kept...We reserved two rooms, both had a shower AND bath, a terrace overlooking the city and partial view of the ocean...keep in mind these were considered "standard" rooms, and we were pleasantly surprised!!
2) What a beautiful lobby, spotless and sooo grand!! The greenery inside was incredible...plants everywhere. Free WiFi if you had your portable, and billiard tables downstairs for some late night games...
3) The pool area was impecable, the kids loved the slide, and the water was never below 29C when we were there...very pleasant.
4) Since we were on half board, lunch was not included, but prices were extremely reasonable and portions were generous. Served poolside for 6 euro or less...what more can you ask for?
5) Staff was very friendly, always with a smile, and extremely helpful...
6) Breakfast and dinner buffet was plentiful and varied...we ate very well :)
7) Although we only went to 2 shows during our stay, we heard comments that we missed some good ones...sigh....We did see the Flamenco show, and I have never EVER seen such passion...one of the girls did some solos that gave me shivers...a true class act...WOW. We also heard the Riverdance show was incredible...soo sad we missed it :(
8) Oh and finally...my compliments to the lanscape architect/gardeners that surely worked so hard to create maintain the stunning flowers and plants both inside and outside...We were awed with the beauty.
TIPS:
a) Gentlemen bring slacks for the restaurant in the evening as shorts are not proper attire.
b) Although the hotel only has 1/2 litre water bottles at 1.60 euro, there is a vending machine between the 2 pools (next to the elevators) that has 1 1/2 litre big bottles for 2 euro...definitely worth it.
c) Sign up for you Spring Card online, you get 15% off your dining and bar bill...don't miss out.
d) Visit LORO parque and SIAM waterpark, purchase the twin ticket at the booth for maximum savings. The flowers and landscaping at SIAM were breathtaking...
e) Do go take a walk down to the beach and try and bring back some black sand in a bottle...I did!!!

Me and my husband stayed in this fabtastic hotel at the beginning of March. We had read the reviews prior to booking and hoped that we wouldn't be disappointed. We certainly weren't. If anything the hotel excelled. Not only are the staff friendly, curteous and very efficient; they are not overpowering. As soon as you walk through the door we knew we were going to have a wonderful holiday. The foyer was incredible; so much space and light.
The room was fantastic. We had asked for a sea view and that's exactly what we got. A great view of the black sandy beach and Gomera in the far distance. There was also a lovely surprise of wine, water and a dried fruit basket left for us on arrival. The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels whenever we wanted.
The food in the restaurant was plentiful and very varied. I'm sure all tastes would be catered for. Every evening there were always 2 main courses freshly prepared by the chef. You only had to tell him how well you liked your meat to be cooked. The desserts were divine.
Around the pools there were always lots of sunbeds so there was no need to rush down after breakfast to grab one for the day. Pool bar service was great with a nice relaxing atmosphere.
The animations team worked hard both day and night to ensure everyone had a great time. However they never pestered you to join in if you didn't want to. The entertainment in the Music Hall was very good; something different every night.
All in all this hotel was excellent. We're definitely going back in November.
Oh by the way make sure you join the Springs Club as you get a discount off your bill at the end of the holiday. We saved about £80.

I stayed here during the beginning of March 09. I am a single traveller and like peace and quiet when holidaying as a work in the pub industry. I booked direct with Hotel and booked flights separately. As I has stayed The Arona Gran (another Spring Hotel) in Oct 08 - i already had my spring card that got me 15% off my final bill and as I stayed longer than 7 days the hotel provided a airport transfer for free (according to taxi rate card would cost 90 euro - each way!!).

I have to admit I perfer this actual Hotel over the Arona Gran .......the restaurant service was so much better as you are actually sat at a table by a maitre a de .... which stopped me wandering around trying to find a table that had not been set up for breakfast (re previous review for the arona gran). The food in both hotels were great and had planty of choice. However this hotel is cheaper and better value ... At the Arona Gran you obviously pay for the location and view.

The down side of the hotel is that the surronding area is hilly and so if you are less mobile but like to get out and about then this hotel might not be the place for you ......Also if shopping is your thing there are only a small selection of shops nearby - staying in playa da americas area would be more suitable in this case.

If you are thinking of visiting this hotel - dont hesitate - book it !!!!

My wife and I have been five times in total, already twice this year and we are going again in September!! What more can I say? Just wish hotels in the UK were run with the care, consideration and attention all the staff at Playa la Arena offer.

That's why we keep going back!!
