“Beautiful and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

This is one of the most comfortable and well-thought-out B&B's we've ever stayed in and we travel a lot! The bed and pillows were really comfy, the towels soft and fluffy, the shower hot and powerful. In our room we loved the bowl of fresh fruit, proper coffee for the cafetiere and a small decanter of sherry and bowl of nuts. It was also great to have plenty of drawers/ hanging space, as well as comfy chairs in the rooms -so few places provide this! When the weather is warm the place to be is in the beautiful and peaceful large garden (your host knows a huge amount about local horticulture should you like any information), there's a pretty little swimming pool and next to it a lovely pool-house with large comfortable chairs and sofas to relax in. The breakfasts are magnificent. Eve is a wonderful cook and is very kind. The staff and friendly and efficient and the place is immaculate. We look forward to staying there again when we are next in Howick.

We spent two nights at Stocklands Farm and enjoyed every minute of it. The beautifully decorated room with many special touches like sherry and fresh fruit made us feel so pampered. The breakfast was to die for! The beautiful garden and surroundings added to the pleasant experience. Our lovely host, Eve,was the crowning glory on an already special experience. Excellent value for money. Would love to visit again! Cassie and Emmie van der Berg, Free State

Room Tip: Only experienced room no1 and it was perfect.

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast. It is relaxing and informal. My 'room' was actually a well proportioned apartment. As a result, I did not have breakfast, so cannot comment on that.

The swimming pool was lovely. Even in winter, I could imagine reading my book next to the pool in the morning sun.

The farm is well located for easy access to Howick, Pietermaritzburg & the Midlands Meander - although you would need a car.

The free wi-fi was very useful - although the signal was not particularly strong. The gardens are meticulously maintained and the zebra's in the field next-door were a really nice surprise.

The sherry, milk, ground coffee, rusks and sweets in the room were a nice touch.

Our family have stayed at Stocklands on many occaisions and love the tranquility and setting. The owners have gone out of their way to accomodate us with help to host my father's memorial service and a family Christmas on the pool patio. The rooms are charming and the breakfasts delicious.

Room Tip: The stables for a family is perfect and the interior rooms for a treat are perfect.

Its a hidden gem in Howick, SA.
I am travelling from Singapore to Durban/Imfolozi/Howick/Cape town and my friend is original from Durban.
Stocklands farm is one of the most well decorated/comfortable B&B I've stayed so far...
Overall, it's worth the price and the decoration is very looking into detail (they've put lavender even on the toilet paper rool since lavender/purple is the scene of the room we've stayed...)
Nice tea area with snacks and a little bit local wine provided in the room...
The garden is really lovely.
Breakfast is super nice and well serviced.
I will definitely come back! and highly recommend for couples/friends/family to stay

We stayed in the Stables at Stocklands Farm for 3 nights. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, with a beautiful garden. We really enjoyed the space, having just spent a week in a hotel suite. The Scottie dogs are worth a mention for sheer personality! The crystal clear borehole water is remarkable. Stocklands' location relative to the Amber retirement villages is very convenient for visiting relatives, and for experiencing some of the Midlands Meander. We enjoyed the pool, and feeding the donkeys. We will certainly be back.
