“Really interesting decor and hospitable owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012 via mobile

We stayed for 1 night in the room with a jacuzzi (I think it was room 8)- we really loved the room and the ensuite. We had a look around the other rooms and think we were in the best one! We loved the quirky decor and had a great time chatting with the owners at the bar after dinner. Dinner and breakfast were both 'yummy'.

Booked this excellent lodge the day before we arrived - end of December, in high season! Very cozy rooms, excellent food, special laid-back, very friendly atmosphere throughout the whole lodge.

We stayed in this lovely B&B for our honeymoon. The views were great, the staff made us feel at home, the room was great and clean and the service was really friendly! The guesthouse has a "homey" feeling with the cigar lounge, TV room and bar. I would really recommend this. I love old wooden furniture, so another reason why this place was beautiful to me.

I happened on this lodge as I was traveling around the Cape- I arrived in Agulhas late and needed a place to stay, and was lucky enough to happen upon this gem. It made my time in Agulhas unforgettable!

The house has a lot of character- from the stone masonry to the tiered architecture, to the maritime décor inside. I got a large and very comfortable room, with a small balcony. The view is gorgeous- the lodge is right across the street from the ocean, so you have a direct view of the sunrise. Absolutely breathtaking!

The lodge has a lot of quaint rooms- a cigar lounge, a sitting room with large, mismatched but comfortable couches,a bar. It also offers free wi-fi with good speeds, a godsend when you are traveling.

Dinner and breakfast were both AMAZING- the owner's wife does all the cooking, and she is in a class of her own! Phil, the owner, is a nice man who will give good recommendations about other places to go and to stay.

We first came across Agulhas Country Lodge when visting Cape Agulhas for a couple of hours back in 2004. We came across the Lodge and picked up a leaflet vowing that one day we would stay there - well after 7 years we finally made it and it was well worth it. The rooms are very comfortable wtih large bathrooms. The owners Phil and Sue and all their staff make you very welcome. Both nights we ate in the restaurant where a set menu is served to guests. The food was excellent and if there are things you don't like they will subsitute this for something that you like.

Cape Agulhas is a fantastic location and we are glad we made it after all this time.

My husband and arrived on the afternoon of his 50th birthday and were met by the friendliest staff, a delicious home baked cake in our bedroom and a view of the ocean that's hard too beat. The evening set menu, was one of the finest meals we have had in any of the many hotels and guest houses we've stayed in. (I must add that we were asked prior to our arrival if we had any food preferences or allergies). After a wonderful evening of celebration and after dinner drinks with the wonderfully hospitable owners, Sue and Phil, we only managed to rise for breakfast at around 11h00 and....there it was, ready and waiting - a superb spread of yoghurts; cold meats and cheeses; fritters and a full English too. Being a generally light sleeper, my extended sleep was thanks to peaceful silence, crisp white linen and the most comfortable beds away from home. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for making it such a memorable and fun weekend. We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 5 overlooking the sea and with own balcony was special!

Room had no mini bar or TV, sealed bathroom with no ventilation, unsecured parking, lovely views and pleasant staff. No choice for evening menu and no sign of sea food much praised in other reviews and guide books. Having paid full price for internet booking, aggravated to see chalk board outside with 50% reduced rates!

Overpriced and tired, note that the photos do not show the main road running in front of the premises. Also ,lots of stairs!!
