“Bargain for a Paris overnight stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

Great value pit stop when travelling but not for a stay of more than an overnight.

Safe Parking (including for bikes / vans etc.)
Good internet
Basic clean facilities

I can understand why This does not meet others needs but they need to pay 2 to 3 times the price. Don't forget you are East end of town not west however the location is safer than it might appear but is clearly not a holiday destination.

Top tip - head to marche croix de chavaux for inexpensive dinner. I ate dinner with the "locals" for a handful of Euros under the covered marketplace where a bar (with a Pelforth sign) that must have been there 100 years set up tables in the unused market area. Absolutely magical.

I would return.

Room Tip: Dont stay here if you are worried by your room aspect. The beauty is out there on the streets wit...

Stayed here with my partner and 11 year old daughter. We needed a stop over on our way south and had booked to climb the Eiffel tower the following evening. We had booked this hotel because it had parking for our van. We were a little shocked by the neighbourhood which felt hostile and dirty. The receptionist told us that there was nowhere locally to eat and we would have to take the metro into Paris to find somewhere. Paris center is 30 mins by metro and the time was 8ish. We felt quite worried about travelling in the locality after dark and so found a local supermarket to buy food.
Room extremely basic but clean and our room next to security door, so banged all night as people entered. Decided to skip our sight seeing the following day as we had had little sleep and didn't fancy travelling out of Paris back to the hotel at night. Hotel staff refused to refund us for the night that we hadn't used.
Breakfast was adequate.

We booked this hotel on Expedia and paid in full for 10 days. When we arrived, we took a taxi from Charles de Gaulle to this hotel which cost 45 euros. No problem there. At the front desk, they pulled up our reservation with no issue and handed us a key. No problem there. We were told that the hotel was sold out of our room and if we wanted the room we booked, then we would have to wait till the next day. I asked for a refund on the difference for the one night. No problem there. The problems began when we got to the room.
We had to take stairs. No wheelchair access. The 8x8 room was cramped with 2 beds with a bunk bed raised over the two. The bathroom was the size of a toilet stall at your office building. In that space, they stuck a sink which you had to squeeze between the toilet to brush your teeth and wash your face. The shower was also a tiny space above the toilet. So the back of my legs were literally bumping the potty while showering. I couldn't raise my arms to wash my hair without hitting my elbows on the sides. The small shower curtain was useless as it covered half of the tiny stall. This means the entire bathroom was wet when we showered. The toilet, sink, mirror floor everything would be wet when we're done. There was black mold in the bathroom which the housekeeping staff would scrub but it would be back in bloom the very next day. We couldn't close the bathroom door after we showered because it would smell of mold. It would smell so badly that we would open the small window and leave the room after showering to air out the place. The water would seep from under the door and leak into the room. We asked for a floor mat we were given two dirty rags about the size of a wash cloth which were clearly torn from a bath towel. They also smelled like mold. The bath towels were very small, hard and scratcy. No hand towels nor wash cloths. The beds were tiny cots with thin uncomfortable matresses. The sheets were clean but stained. My blanket had food or something dried and stuck to it. This was how I tracked whether it was changed or not. It never got changed in the 10 days we were there. They rotated the blankets between the three beds. On arrival it was on my bed, the second day it would be on my friend's beds. Gross! The housekeeping staff do not respect the "Do Not Disturb" sign. They come in no matter what so don't bother leave the sign.
The "All You Can Eat" breakfast was baguette, toast, jam, milk, coffee, tea, chocolate or watered down orange juice. Chocolate flakes or regular corn flakes. The tiniest bowls and cups you will ever use. For 4.80 euro! For that price, you can have eggs, ham and the works at the cafes!
The walls are so thin that we were talking about 11pm one night and a front desk person came to our room and threatened to call the cops. Without any prior warning! I guess they have a problem with rowdy guests so they don't bother with that courtesy anymore. We apologized and never spoke past 9pm again. I should have complained about the couple next door having their conjugal sessions every night but I didn't want to be spiteful. It wasn't their fault that the walls were so thin. If you're uptight about these things, be warned, you will hear it all night!
The next day after arrival, no one seemed to know about my correct room and no effort was made to get my refund. I was told to take it up with Expedia. I spent the entire 10 days in the smaller room.
Montreuil is not a very safe town. There was graffiti everywhere but that didn't phase me. What got to me was the locals kept telling us to be careful. We had coffee at a small cafe and the proprietress warned us to take our cameras off the table or else they may be snatched. We were at the pharmacy and the Pharmacist warned us do not open our wallets outside and that we should carry exact purchase amounts only. We would spend all day in Paris and get back to Montreuil about 9pm at night. Twice we were followed from the bus back to the hotel. The second time we were so worried that we actually had to run to make it to the lobby.
We would take the bus to downtown Montreuil to catch the Metro into downtown Paris where we saw the sights. The Metro was easy to navigate. We were switching trains like locals after the second day. Not much happening in Montreuil though. You definitely have to go to Paris.
If you book this hotel, know that the hotel location is near Paris but not walking distance. You will do alot of walking. To the bus. to the train. To the sights. etc. The location is very quiet with not much happening. The hotel has no wheelchair access. Make sure you are indoors before 9pm when the riffraff come out. The rooms are clean but not grand with no frills. Bring your own towels and sheets if you have luggage space. Bring flip flops for bathroom because the mold is scary. Bring bedroom slippers because there is no carpet in the bedroom just cold linoleum floors that were cleaned with a dirty mop everyday. They do have free internet! The staff help if you ask but they don't go out of their way so research everything before you get there! Happy Travels!

I stayed here recently as an accompanying teacher on a school trip. Our last night of the residential was at this hotel. It is convenient if you need motorway access (to Parc Asterix and EuroDisney) and don't want to be in the city centre. There is ample secured parking. The receptionist was very effiecient.
The rooms are small, with little storage space, but they have tvs and air conditioning which was very welcome after a long hot day in Paris. The bathroom, as mentioned in previous reviews is a small pod, but served it's purpose. The dining room is on the small side, if you are there with a large group, but it being self-service meant that there was no waiting time (apart from having to queue). There was orange juice (from concentrate), a coffee machine, cereals, a toaster, baguette, yoghurt and fruit compote.

After staying at the Novotel St. Pancras in London,.I would say we had quite high expectations from a hotel at half the price in Paris. The breakfast was ok, nothing much to complain about. However, the room was so cramped for space, the bed seemed to occupy 80% of the room and the light was very dim. There was hardly any room to move about. The location was also in a suburb sort of neighbourhood. That's the only regret in an otherwise great honeymoon.

We stayed here for four nights in March 2010. It is almost identical to an Etap; proper double bed, clean sheets, small 'pod' bathroom, plentiful hot water, no carpet etc.
If you are driving from the channel ports it is well situated near the motorway, but not at all noisy. Just outside the Peripherique so not the most picturesque area. Didn't feel at all unsafe to us. Bus or ten minute walk to the Metro (Marie de Montreuil) Not really convenient to come back to during the day but much cheaper than staying in town. Parking is free, most people seem to have white vans, presumably popular with tradesmen. The reception is friendly, efficient and manned 24 hours.
