We landed here on a last minute "Roulette hotel " deal - i.e we knew we were going to be somewhere in Garda area for 4 nights half board . We drove down from Germany to the local HQ- Hotel Panorama up the road towards Costermano. They directed us to the Oasi down the road - who had us booked , and checked in multo pronto . All very efficient .
We really appreciated the ample covered parking under the hotel , as well as the lovely relaxing gardens . OK - the hotel wasn't modern , but everything worked - big rooms , with functioning safe , TV, hot shower and loads of hangers .
I loved the dining room , with large 1930 style pink curved ceiling mouldings & chandeliers - felt like the Titanic .
Pretty pleased with the food : copious & different for every one of our 4 nights .
We found the two sittings ideal - 1830 or 2000- we could choose which - allocated places, but times were free , without booking . Each night we got to book in advance the next nights goodies comprising salad buffet ( including 2 or three warm things - e.g fried aubergine, spicy cheese & some veg , etc ) . Then a choice of starters - soup, pasta or something else , Main course was meat, fish or vegetarian . Then more choice of sweet . Breakfast was usual buffett , sometimes including real scrambled eggs ( uova strappazzata or something like that ) . And a selection of about 6 ham & cheeses as well as cornflakes, fruit & sweet stuff . Great coffee . You will not die of starvation here.
And yes - the cooking is foreign . That's why we go abroad ...
Service staff were amazingly friendly & happy ( given the grim faces of some of the guests ) and we enjoyed joking with them . They also seemed incredibly organised - always having the place clear & tidy & laid for the next service . Drinks were cash at the end of the meal , but reasonable prices ( €11 for bottle of very drinkable house Bardolino , probably equivalent to €3,75 in supermarket - which is normal & fair . )
Nor did the bar up the prices on the Tuesday & Thursday nights they had live music /dancing on , so bringing through from dining room was not an issue .
Clientele was mostly German pensioners - we live & booked in Germany & nearly fit the bill anyway . They do normally have english groups, but not our couple of days.
The Garda Communal Bus into & out of town was ideal for the day we didn't want to use our car- for boat trips .
Conclusion - if you want to have a very reasonable out of season short holiday with the essentials covered, surrounded by sensible, mature calm people - come here. We enjoyed ourselves and would come here again . Except we want to try somewhere else !
Oh - no fitness centre - but we'd have been sick anyway with all the food .
