“Beautiful peaceful place to stay in the outskirts of Modena”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful little B&B in a quaint little village, very welcoming and friendly hosts, beautifully decorated and spacious rooms with all the creature comforts, and a few wonderful places to eat nearby. Check out the cafe on the square near the church a stone's throw away- very popular with the modenese locals

We stayed here for three nights in June, and it was delightful. Owned by brothers Andrea and Roberto Rossi (whose parents assist), it is a charming and convenient location for many activities, not the least of which is the Ferrari Museum in nearby Maranello. Our two-room suite (Calla) was excellent; everything worked well, including the air conditioning. The included breakfasts were very good, and our two dinners in the dining room were excellent, with Andrea as a very attentive host and server. With his Modena bartending history, he made an excellent Cuba LIbre, not a common drink in small-town Italy, for my wife; he is well-informed on wines as well. We had a very good tortellini-making lesson from chef Roberto, with translation of the finer points by Andrea. We would go out of our way to stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for Calla.

This characteristic hotel located in the old town is wonderfully enchanting with well equipped, spacious rooms that are beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from the windows was very special. The restaurant is also very highly regarded but unfortunately i did not get to try it out. The hotel is clearly very well run, with an attentive, knowledgeable team (Andrea in particular is very friendly and professional). I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone staying in or around Castelvetro.

Room Tip: The suites on the top floor are wonderfully spacious and beautifully decorated with lovely views

I chose this property as an alternate to staying near the sites I wanted to visit in the area; balsamic vinegar making, Ducati motorcycle factory, Ferrari museum, and could not have made a better selection! The property is located on the top of a hill with 360 views of the surrounding villages and farms, the people were charming and more than helpful, the breakfast was delightful and dinner in the hotel dining room was fabulous!

The room was very clean and cared for. We had a top floor suite and the only minor complaint is that the lighting was quite dim, bothersome if you like to read in the evening. I suggest adding (or offering) a reading light for the bedrooms.

The area was tranquil with a small church to visit with the requisite outdoor bar in the small square. Other dining options were also very good without the need of driving. I will definitely recommend this property to friends and will stay here again given the opportunity.

The Locanda is a member of the Charme and Relax group of Italian hotels and fits the description exactly. Castelvetro old town surrounding the hotel is an interesting hilltop complex of old piazzas, church and towers, delightful to wander around and often with something to enjoy, perhaps a market, a wedding or even a scooter rally. Modena, Bologna and the adjacent hill villages are within easy reach. The management staff at the Locanda, Andrea, experienced sommelier, Roberto, magical chef, and their father Signor Rossi, are all delightful men, interested in ensuring their guests are content and well looked after. They are all happy to chat about life in Italy and to advise on places to visit.
The rooms at the Locanda are comfortable and spacious and with only six the hotel never feels too busy and crowded. The restaurant I have already reviewed in the list of Castelvetro restaurants and in summary it is a brilliant place to relax and enjoy good food and wine. The breakfasts include a wide range of choice, with especially delicious pastries all made by Roberto. His chocolate cake is bliss!
In summary the Locanda is a superb hotel. We stayed for a week and would happily have stayed longer.

We visited this Borgo during our way up north.
Right in the center, family own, clean and very efficient even with a little baby boy.
The room was very specious and well maintained, clean and with all the needs.
The owners take good care in a very professional manor.
Little boutique Hotel!

Modena is a small town and Locanda Del Feudo is a quant hotel on a quite street. We had a large room on the second floor of the hotel. The hotel was run by two young brothers. We had dinner at the hotel, while not cheap was good. Morning breakfast was nice. The brothers were very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. Wifi worked in our room. Recommended if you are in the area.
