Being set within the very selective DeVere Cameron House complex, we were expecting much more from the Boat House Restaurant. However, apart from the scenic location and the friendliness of some staff, there is nothing about it to justify the pricy menu and the uninspired presentation of the food. They also have a very weird reservation system, by email only. The 0871 number for Cameron House is never answered. We turned up to the restaurant unsure whether the reservation had been confirmed by email as we had been out all day and did not have access to a computer. We did get a table with a loch view, as requested, but we had to wait for it far too long (maybe they had forgotten about us). The food was just average, quite generous portions, but nothing special about is, the sort of pub grub. They serve tomato ketchup and vinegar straight from the bottles and I am sure that my spare ribs had been covered generously with Heinz BBQ Sauce. The total cost was just over £100 for 2 people, just starter and main course, no pudding, no coffee and no wine, just 2 halves of lager and a coupe of soft drinks. In any other restaurant that would have been no more than £40. Overall impression - rather ordinary but very overpriced.
