“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

On a stop off between Skye and Edinburgh this was a very welcome break.

The staff member on reception was exceptionally helpful and the porters took the car and luggage without any fuss.

The room itself was beautiful with a stunning view of the Loch.

The spa/leisure facilities were pretty good with an in-built water slide to add to the hot tub.

Superb end to the last night of my short break.

Lovely hotel. Great service but I found it a bit dark and longed for light! I plan to go back and stay in one of the lodges which I think will be fantastic. I know the decor thing was just me
Good service and beautiful quality of rooms. Great treatment on arrival and porters lovely and the staff who parked the car for you. Location stunning. We looked over the Loch which was beautiful.

Just returned from 2 nights at Cameron House, which we booked following a recommendation from my very fussy parents. Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean and well-maintained, service exceptional. We have stayed in a lot of nice hotels and they are usually let down by their staff but everyone here was superb- polite, well-informed and helpful.

Highly recommended! Will look forward to a return visit.

We arrived late and it went down hill from there. We always spend a bunch on hotels, but with that, you get what you pay for (usually). The place was dirty, food was not good, the service was (for the most part) non-existant. A beautiful view, a wonderful old building and nothing more. Too bad.

To begin let me say that this place is well worth a visit for the location alone, which exceeds stunning! However maybe a day trip to enjoy the site and facilities may be enough.
We had quite a few faults with our stay, and although they were minor faults when you pay a whopping £340 for dinner bed and breakfast those little things add up to a frustrating experience.

In booking our stay we booked a double room with a garden view and our first problem arose when we were given a twin room with two single beds pushed together with a car park view. I immediately went back to reception to complain and request to be moved rooms, which happily they arranged for us. We were then given a double room with a loch view; a nice enough room with a better bed. We later found out however that the TV in the room was very poor quality, channels missing, poor picture quality etc. but this was obviously very minor and not worthy of mention we thought.

Our next issue came at breakfast when the breakfast-in-bed that we ordered arrived 50minutes late and with an item missing. I called room service initially after 30 minutes to see how long our breakfast would be, then later to request that they send the missing breakfast item to the room. The phone was hung up on me during my second call and I couldn't then get an answer from room service, I rang reception to request that they deal with the issue and try to get the missing breakfast item sent to the room... A week later and I am still waiting.

On to the positives however:

The location; as I have already mentioned the location is beautifully stunning!

Our evening meal at the grill restaurant was fantastic and the level of service really was exceptional. And although the meal was very expensive (we chose to pick from the main menu and pay supplement) we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience

With the exception of the problems we had at breakfast with room service the staff in general were accommodating and provided a very good service.

What I would say is that if you have any issues raise them with the staff, they were good enough to change our room when arriving (and rightly so it must be said), but they were also kind enough to issue a token 20% refund when I raised our disappointments on check out.

I am a great believer that human error, bad days will happen and that the most important part of that is rectifying the issues that these days create, which the staff at Cameron house certainly did.

There are a lot of positives to be taken from this place. I personally think that when a customer pays top money for a five star experience that they expect the very best of luxury. Maybe these expectation levels may be a contributing factor to Cameron House's downfall as in our experience here it did fall quite a bit short of what we have experienced in the past of luxury 5 star accommodation.

We wound up our trip to Scotland with some big time posh. After touring the rugged Highlands it was nice to be pampered in a 5 star hotel. It has all the expected amenities in very elegant surroundings. In addition it is only half an hour from Glasgow International Airport.

Amazing hotel in amazing surroundings. Took my partner here for a romantic weekend and wasn't disappointed. Staff were really pleasant and helpful, room was beautifull with a view of the loch and food was also to a very good standard. Perfect place for a city getaway and hope to return soon!
