“The Carrick - Mansion House Apartments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Just returned from 4 days staying at the Mansion House Apts. The apartment overlooked the golf course and Loch Lomond, the apt itself was fantastic. All high quality furnishings and high end appliances, (Siemens kitchen appls, 3 Bang & Olufsen tv's, DVD, and Ipod station). Everything appeared new, no wear and tear on anything. There was an issue with the main tv (snowy and only BBC1) but re-tuned the set and fine after that. Wifi a bit hit and miss.
Although people in the other apts we never heard a sound, totally peaceful.
We had breakfast at the Cameron Grill each day, fantastic selection available and food delicious. Great service from the staff, nothing to much trouble, made to feel very welcome.
Had dinner one evening at The Boathouse, again excellent food, good service from the staff and a great atmosphere. One evening we also ate at the Duck Bay restaurant, (next to Cameron House), great choice and excellent quality, and great service.
Sure, some prices are on the high side at Cameron House, but hey, look where you are and at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
Thanks for a great stay.
I have no hesitation in recommending Cameron House and The Carrick, we will definately return.

We stayed at the Mansion house for 3 nights the weekend before Christmas, what a big disappointment!!!
No Wifi!!!
Picture on television was snowy!!
Only 3 Channels!!
Very disappointing, we thought we were going to "State of the Art" but everything was a "State"!!
When we booked our granddaughter into the beauty bar for "glitter fingers and toes" it took us about 30mins at the spa to pay for it, as the staff were not sure if we could put it on our account!!?
I also tried to buy some pool games for our granddaughters and they didn't have a price for them?? Another 25 minute wait till they found the price!?
I should also mention that they charge for all electricity used during your stay?!!!
We only had toiletries in 1 of the bathrooms?!! We had to phone and have extra delivered to us? WHY!!!
Only good thing about the Carrick was the "Claret Jug" where we enjoyed a lovely Sunday Lunch which was fresh and tasty and,, kids eat free with 2 adults!!
We certainly will not be rushing back!!

Amazing long weekend spent at Carrick Lodge. Fantastic facilities in the self catering lodge. It was huge with three bedrooms and bathrooms. Plenty of kitchen equipment (better than other holiday rentals) and lots of cutlery and crockery. Basic washing up stuff and tea/coffee etc all supplied.

Had use of the beautiful spa and all the hotel and lodge facilities. Great to be able to eat in the restaurants or cook in as we fancied.

Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place right on the banks of Loch Lomond. Real luxury. Beautiful accommodation and good restaurants, especially the Cameron Grill. Lots of pampering at the spa. Staff are brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Good golfing.

Room Tip: We stayed in lodge 128 which was in a quiet area overlooking a lake and golf course.

We have stayed at the Carrick Lodges and also Cameron House Lodges twice, with another trip booked in September. The cottages are definitely superior to the Lodges, but the lodges at the Carrick are still comfortable and well equipped, the Cameron House Lodges are a little 'tired' now. As we live abroad we now class the Carrick as home away from home when we return to Scotland, a great place to unwind and recharge our batteries, having stayed in a number of 5* hotels, the Carrick definitely lives up to this standard.

The Spa is excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, but I would always recommend booking treatment in advance to avoid disappointment. The Claret Jug is fabulous, warm, cosy and inviting and the staff deserve a special mention, they are always accommodating, friendly and efficient, they also get a special mention for saving our Christmas dinner last year!

We have also sampled the The Grand Grill (excellent) and the Boat House, great food but terrible service, this definitely needs to be addressed.

Overall a fantastic spot to luxuriate in the stunning Scottish Countryside!

Room Tip: The cottages are sheer luxury!

As owners for 14 years with DeVere Seasonal Ownership, we made a trade into The Carrick as we couldn't be accommodated in our home resort, Cameron House. The upper floor apartment in the Colquohoun Mansion House was superby appointed, a great size in a beautiful setting. The one main issue was the front doors, which are very heavy with overly severe closer mechanisms. As we were unfortunate enough to have a large group of males staying in three units during our stay, one group of 4 being directly beneath us, we were subject to noise in the late evenings/early mornings due to them commuting constantly to party in each other's units and allowing the doors to slam closed unsupervised behind them. This slamming noise disturbed our sleep and disappointedly resulted in us leaving early. This issue was raised with the management who did contact the male parties (who unheeded the advice). They have promised to address the doors, which we hope they do without further delay as we would not wish others to be disturbed in the same way. The sleep quality score below was given because of the noise factor, not the comfort of the beds, which were great.
The resort in general is top class:- golf course is excellent and challenging, spa sublime and the Claret Jug restaurant/bar a great way to end the day. Would like to stay in a detached lodge next time!!

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment that overlooks the loch/golf course

We stayed in a 4 bedroom lodge at The Carrick which is huge. Bedrooms all down stairs, all ensuite. Upstairs is all open plan - kitchen, dining and lounge areas. It also has an additional bathroom with toilet and a separate utility room with an extra fridge/freezer. The furnishings are just like the photos on their web site,

However - they need to improve on the TV's which lets the lodge down. The main TV in lounge, the picture has very poor signal and not enough channels. The TV's in the two bedrooms (2 rooms without TV's) are about the size of a computer monitor, far too small to enjoy.

Please be careful when you sit on the chairs on the balcony. On our previous visit to another lodge at the Carrick. Sitting having breakfast the chair totally collapsed, with the bolts which are rusty just sheering off. I was lucky not to be hurt. I reported this to management who just replaced the chair. This visit two chairs collapsed while in use, again reported .Management will not take this serious until someone is seriously hurt - don't let it be you. All these chairs are the same age and need replaced.

We always make good use of the spa, going every day. Staff very friendly and had time to answer any questions we had.

Enjoy going to the Carrick and look forward to going back.
